It's gotta be the quietest alarm ever. I might put the alarm it came with on to see what that's like. If I wired it up to the existing siren, the entire parking lot would know when I hit the lock or unlock button..

I had two of those Kendas long ago. Seemed fine, but I ripped one open with a clam shell somehow while riding so I didn't have it long. The other had 3-4 plugs in it within a month and I replaced it. I don't think the tire is junk, I think there was just a lot of junk in the areas I rode at the time. They get consistently good reviews online.

Got my front blinkers on and wired everything up. They work great. However, the rear blinkers are backwards for some reason.

Earlier I put the siren the alarm came with back in and it's far louder. Turns out it's some crappy little thing so the alarm has a transformer in it to step up the voltage so that the siren is loud. Probably why it wouldn't work well with the horn. Anyway, it's a lot louder now and I'm wondering how I can lower the sensitivity of the alarm system since it barely takes a tap to set it off.

Everything is ordered. Gonna do all the tire/cvt stuff at once. New gears, NCY torque sheave, clutch springs, valve stems, Kenda tires, etc.

UGH. Starter's gone. The day after I sold the Tao Tao with a perfectly good one too. Took it apart, looked at it, couldn't find anything, cleaned, and put back together. Does absolutely 100% nothing when I connect it straight to a good battery with jumper cables. Someone tell me what to do and/or what starter to buy. Also, I'm beginning to think that maybe I should have a kickstarter..

Positive brush holder fried, both brushes short,,hunt for a starter!Brent posted some good info several years back about installing bigger wires than stock to help slow starting, thats likely gonna be a "must do" mod when going 'big CC'...

Yeah, but when I connect it to the battery there's no sparks or anything. Wouldn't a short make a bit of a spark when connecting the jumpers?

Sorry,I meant both brushes are worn down(short),the positive brush appears to be stuck in its holder also,if both brushes are not making firm contact with the commutator,no current can flow...

So the negative brush from the old starter looks to be in a lot better condition, so I'll try using that. Painted the outside of the housing thingy black to make it go faster. Got my Kendas yesterday, valve core tool today, and my hour/tach/CHT gauge today too. I'll try the CHT probe it came with, but I think it maxes out too low. We'll see.
