You're making it hard for yourself. If someone really wants it you'll know. They're clear and straight forward with you. Don't start any hassle with delivery or meeting halfway, downpayments and stuff. Eliminate all those factors. Keep it simple. Tell buyers to bring money and transportation. If they want it, they will to take the efforts. Just be patient and wait for the right buyer. Power is in yoir hands here

I haven't had any real interest other than the guy from Philly till today. Someone says they'll do $600 cash when they get paid Tuesday and can pick it up immediately after. We'll see.
I quit putting it in the yard. No one seems to care. I had 2 people stop the first day it was out, then no one since that I've seen and no one has called. I know it just takes one person that has cash and wants is, but it's been garage kept it's whole life. While it's not a gem, I still hate to see it sitting out in the sun all day for seemingly no reason.

I had a similar experience to yours today (one of many). Someone who has been texting me for days and was supposed to show up yesterday texted me yet again right before he was supposed to show up today. He was asking if I'd deliver it 20 minutes away. Says he really wants it but has no way of getting it home blah blah blah. Another one of those situations that makes you wonder why this hasn't crossed their mind until the last minute. I basically just said it's pickup only- no deliveries. You'll need a truck or trailer or van or whatever to transport it and get a hold of me when you've figured it out...
Then someone else texted who was related to this person. I think maybe his mom- but seemed to have a little more common sense. She was asking if they came and paid tomorrow would I hold another day until Tuesday when they could get a truck over there to transport it. Sure no problem. She seemed to have a little more planning skills. Again makes me wonder how some folks get through life if they can't even figure out how to make a scooter purchase without panicking at the last minute and asking you to solve all their problems haha. Of course I've had a few experiences like this but for the most part most of the scoot sales go fairly smoothly. I do make an effort to have all the paperwork etc. ready to go so there's no holdups.
I have started to do something that I wished I had thought of before- instead of just giving out my address to whomever asks and says they're coming, I'll give a fake house number that's very similar to mine. I don't like it when I give someone my address and they don't show up. I feel like maybe they saw something they liked and now they know exactly where it's located. Nothing has ever happened, but it's not a good feeling. So now I just give the fake address a few digits off and when they either text or call and say they can't find the house I just say "whoops, I gave you the wrong address. It's actually XXXX". Then they pull up 30 seconds later. If I ever see a car prowling down our street late at night and they look lost like they can't find a certain house #, I'll just assume it's an unsavory character that I've thwarted with my genius plan haha. Seems silly but makes me feel just a little more secure ;P
The interest seems to come in waves- like no calls or interest for a whole week or two then bam- three or four buyers in a row that seem interested. For some reason I feel like most serious buyers seem to call on Mondays. Weird.

dang man, i just finished reading the entire thread, you seem to have no luck with the gy6 150. while mine was still running it had torque out the ying yang, and could even hit 85/kph with a 10" rim with a 2.50x10 tire on it. and it never ran hot on me, or lean, if it wasnt for the pickup coil going id have stuck with it. but the amount of torque my engine had was probably due to it was geared for a large heavy dune buggy, so it going into a scooter that was a 1/4 of the weight it did wheely pretty easily.
but man, i guess its kinda hit or miss with things like this huh? some engines go for miles and years with no hiccups, while other are complete duds.

The guy just called and said he will be here late in the afternoon. He's bringing his brother just to be sure he's comfortable with it and as long as that goes well, he's taking it home. After saying his brother was disabled and had been using an electric scooter, I clarified that this is not a mobility scooter. He said his brother's disabilities aren't physical and he's been riding an electric scooter much like this one. Seemed to understand what he was looking at and from where, unlike the last caller. He's from ~20 miles away instead of 200. I've got my fingers crossed.

Damn! So close. The guy and his brother just left, without the scooter. He was ready to buy it, but after I mentioned adding reflectors so I could be sure it would pass inspection, he asked if he would need to have it inspected. I told him yes, so it can be registered as a motorcycle. So then he asked his brother if he could ride it as a motorcycle. His brother said his license is good to 250cc or 500cc, he wasn't sure.
He got him to take out his license and it's a moped operator's permit. I told him that's good to 50cc. Above 50cc you have to have a motorcycle license. I told them that's a written test and a skills test. His brother said it's the same written test, but he didn't have a bike to do the skills test on yet. I said this one's great for getting your license on, and a big part of why I got it and I explained what the skills test involves.
They said rear tires keep going flat on the electric scooter that he rides and he ended up with a foam filled. I told him I get too many rear flats on my 50s too from riding the shoulder, but one good thing about a 150 and a license is that you just ride in the road like a car and don't pick up all of the trash.
They left saying they really like the bike. Everything is great... except the license issue. I told them if you head back a certain way, you can stop into the MVA and grab a copy of the Operator's Manual that gives you all the info on a license and he said he'd do that or check it out online. He said he'd like to step his brother up to something like this, and would like to buy this scooter if they can work out the details on their end with the licensing. He had just relied on what his brother told him regarding being able to ride it legally. They apologized for "wasting my time" and told me they may still be in touch.
I was hoping to make the sale of course, but to me it was nice just to deal with someone that wasn't BSing, showed up on time, etc... If everyone was like that, I'd have no issues with the process. Heck, I would have stood there another hour and explained anything they wanted to know about scoots or licensing even after knowing it wouldn't be sold. I even told them you can get a 50 like my TaoTao, that doesn't need the license and tags like this one, for $600 or a little more on craigslist new at times. I'm not a very good salesman, but to some degree I try to think about things I wish people would tell me if I were the buyer. That said, no I'm, not going to say "please note that noise that I can't quite figure out".

I cant believe the issues you've had with your 150 Mine has been great. No issues, runs like a jack rabbit...flat out walked away from a highly modded 88cc 4T built by a guy who races professionally with no trouble (I posted the video)... I just don't know. I'm going to GPS mine again but I think it'll do 62-65mph given enough road. (about 1 mile) I think my 83cc scoot would nearly keep up with your 150cc scoot ? I can EASILY cruise at 45 - 50 all day long at about 2/3 throttle...even with a stout headwind. This is bone stock. I'm just over 200lbs and I know you're just under 300 but given flat road, weight doesn't determine top end....unless your tires are under inflated. If there's a member down here in my area I'd be glad to let them ride it and verify. I'm truthing. (I'll follow them in THEIR car during this run) I know what's in the motor. I put it together. Original stock piston and jug with 14,000 miles on it. 2 valve head. Nothing special. This is the same motor I bought like 3 different top end kits for and nothing fit...so I ended up just honing the cylinder, new rings and lapping the valves. Looking at your cam and cyl head....it appears we may have the same 150 motor. In fact, I posted about this scooter long ago when I had the motor out because the rocker assembly had broken and metal chunks were missing and presumed inside the motor...so I washed the motor's insides with detergent and a high pressure water hose. Some of the chunks came out. a little more has come out in oil changes, but over 1000 miles now and it's clean inside and runs great. I'm beginning to suspect this whole thread was just to discourage 4T folks... you evil wicked 4T hate-n rabble rouser you!! Seriously, great thread. Sorry you had a bad experience.

Did you notice the valves were noisier with the A9 ? A little. Some people set the lash tighter on aftermarket cams. I already set mine fairly tight at 0.002"/0.003" usually, so I didn't wanna go much tighter than that. The 150 didn't run terrible with all of the work, but still just wasn't what I'm looking for in something tagged as a motorcycle. My 2T wouldn't have beat it half throttle with it in top form, but stock was not impressive. No discouragement was intended. The project just turned out to be discouraging for me. I wish it was a 60MPH cruiser. It wouldn't be for sale; I'd be riding it.

Of course. Just kidding.
Well, I wouldn't exactly say my 150 is a 60mph "cruiser". 45-50 yes.
But then to me cruising is under 7,000rpms. Never WOT.
I can't see a 90cc 2T being exactly a cruiser either by that standard tho.
I have a 175cc two stroke enduro that will do about 70 but 60 is not even cruising for that bike. I would say 53ish is comfortable cruising for the 175cc 2T enduro.
Seems to me to cruise comfortably (for the machine) at 60mph you need at least a 250cc motor with enough torque to push the gears for that.
You may simply need more displacement.

but 2t's love WOT. Ask Jan Thiel! My 96cc is very comfortable at 60mph WOT... ok. I'm just one of those who don't like running WOT or redline all the time I guess. Even on my own 2 stroke bikes. No 2 stroke scooters currently. But that can change any second. (Wouldn't mind doing it on yours tho)

Trust me- I'd only object if you planned to "cruise it" at half throttle all day. WOT- no problemo!

Mine usually can run WOT or 1/2 throttle without issue. Stuff happens, like my recent meltdown, but that's not the norm. To me, these little engines are kinda meant to be run hard. If I couldn't run my TaoTao WOT, literally I would never ride it. It's slow enough full throttle.
I hear you on the displacement though. Initially I wanted a 250-300cc. Now I'm thinking 400cc. If I buy a big expensive scoot, I don't want to run that WOT.
