Tuesday came and went without any contact from the person that wanted it "immediately Tuesday". Nothing else from the other person either. Pretty sure this thing isn't going anywhere right now unless I want to give it away.

Waiting till spring isnt a bad idea i think. Craigslist ads expire in 45 days. I've got about 2 weeks left. When it expires, I'm not re-listing till spring. If I couldn't sell it with temps over 90F still, no way it's going as it gets colder and colder. I'll just drain the gas and be pissed at it all winter. lol The only good news about this is that if anyone ever does put up a nice big scoot near me, maybe they'll have the same issues and I'll be able to get it at a good price once they're frustrated with it. There's a Kymco xciting 250 on there now, or last I looked. It's been on longer than my scoot and dropped from $2100 to $1700. It's tempting to see if they'd take less, but I have started leaning toward a Burgman 400 so I know I don't have to worry at all about keeping up on any road without being WOT. Initially weight was my concern, but the more I thought about it; I'll still have my 49cc based stuff so if I really don't feel like riding a big scoot around I don't have to. I think any of the stuff with the power to do what I want and much storage and comfort ends up being heavy, so there's no point in fighting that. As long as it's reliable, the weight isn't a big deal anyway. I'm too used to my crap breaking down on me and having to load it into a truck. I'd even be open to the 650 scoots if the right deal came up, but from what I've seen they're all pretty expensive unless they have a lot of miles. 400s are bad enough. This is all of course assuming I ever sell this thing and ever manage to save enough money.

I got a message today that someone has $200 and they're ready to come get it! I told them to let me know when they have the other $300 and I'll be here.

I have been pondering a 400 for quite a while myself. There is the Yamaha Majesty and the Suzuki Burgman, what others would be worth it to look for? Also is there any info on the ease of service, and aftermarket parts availability.

I have been pondering a 400 for quite a while myself. There is the Yamaha Majesty and the Suzuki Burgman, what others would be worth it to look for? Also is there any info on the ease of service, and aftermarket parts availability. I haven't gone around kicking tires or sitting on them or anything beyond searches and such, but the Burgman and Majesty are the two big contenders in the 400 class. The Burgman seems to be the most popular, so parts and accessory availability should be a bit better. Just from quick searches on eBay though, lots of listings come up for both. I haven't really looked into aftermarket much. I know there are J Costa variators and other CVT parts for tuning available. I haven't put much thought into engine mods for the larger scoots honestly. The first scooters I was interested in were Vespa 250-300cc GTS models. When I saw that cylinder and head combos can end up near $1000, it put the brakes on that idea for me. As much as I like to mod, my goal changed to just getting a capable scoot to begin with and that's why I moved to looking at 400s and would consider a 650 if a great deal came along. Some reviews that I have read said that the Majesty is a little easier to service, though as I understand it it's just because the panels are easier to remove. Any of the newer big stuff is EFI and LC and more complex than what we're used to in small air cooled scoots. The upside is that they are generally a lot more reliable, so if we don't mod them extensively, we shouldn't have to worry about working on them nearly as much. It's still crazy to me to see people talking about 20,000-30,000 miles before they changed a belt and stuff like that. 30,000 miles I'm changing multiple engines out. I think that's well beyond any recommended interval, but I forget what they recommend off the top of my head (wanna say something like 15,000). The Burgman is said to have more leg room and some say is more comfy in general, which appeals to me as a large guy that likes to take long rides. The Burgman is said to have more storage, though some like that the Majesty has a split seat so you don't have to access it all at once. More years of Burgmans have ABS. Lots of other specs seem really close. Some say it comes down to user preference. Also, depends what years you are looking at. I haven't really homed in on anything in particular, as I don't have cash sitting here to buy so I don't know what will come around if/when I'm ready to go. Oh, Kymco makes a People 300i that makes good power and is smaller and lighter than these. I don't believe it to be quite as capable at speed and it loses the massive storage space, but it could be fun if you want to stick to lighter weight stuff. The Vespa 250 and 300 GTS are also relatively small and still quite capable, again losing the more touring oriented features of the big boys. There's also the Yamaha S-Max 155cc that claims some pretty crazy performance for it's size. It's not gonna do what a 400 does, but it's impressive for what it is so it may be something to look into depending exactly what you want.

I have a customer that has a nice low miles garage kept Burgman he wants $3500 for. I would love to have it, but it is not in the foreseeable future. Hurricane Matthew screwed up my roof, and the wife still wants a Harley. LoL!

Hurricane Matthew screwed up my roof, and the wife still wants a Harley. LoL! That's about what I was hoping to get something decent for. Possibly more for a newer model in good shape. There are some Harleys on my local craigslist that aren't bad deals and I'd prob enjoy if I gave them a chance... but I just can't do it. All I ever see are HDs here. The damn things putt around back roads and get in my way. They shake themselves to death at idle. It seems they must be randomly revved at every red light. I don't own a single t-shirt with an eagle and/or lightning bolts on it or a half helmet that I hang on the back whenever I cross into a state without a helmet law. I just don't think it would work out, as I'm not nearly cool enough to ride one. EDIT : I shouldn't talk smack. I mean I ride the lowest on the food chain of 2 wheelers. Possibly below a bicycle by public opinion locally as near as I can tell. I just don't enjoy the attitude that I often get from folks that own Harleys. Even ones that I know somewhat well are totally different than the people I know with Japanese bikes. My buds with Japanese bikes give me respect for how much I ride and will ride with me. The ones with HDs tell me I need to buy a Harley or I can't ride with them.

As they used to say "You aren't Shit if you're not on a Harley". The double negative speaks for itself.

My favorite Harley moment was a guy that said he would race anything on his Harley. It was loud and chrome and the baddest thing on the road with lots of torque. I don't even know what it was. I pay little attention to them. Some gigantic engine (1000cc+). He was at my house when 2 of my other friends showed up on a Suzuki TL1000 and a Honda CBR600RR. I said hey fellas, this guy said he'll race anything with his Harley. They said let's go. He said no, I ain't racing one of those things. You gotta be crazy to ride one of those, he said. My definition of race anything and his must be a little different. It was pretty fun to watch the attitude change, because I'm so used to being the low man on the totem pole in bike conversations.
OK 1 more. A friend had a Honda Shadow. It was modified and looked more like an older Harley to me. He broke down. I forget the issue, but it was something he could fix. Some guy stopped on a Harley. Got off. Realized it was a Honda and said, I thought it was a Harley. Left. I know that there are a lot of good ppl on Harleys, but that's the kind of attitude that I want no part of. It's one thing to pass by. Intending to help a fellow biker and then saying no because of the brand is something else.

word of advice, dont get a harley, dont even consider it. they are not worth the money people ask for them. if you want a cruiser that can keep up and even overtake most bikes, get a 91 to 98 Yamaha XV1100 Virago.
why you ask get a Virago? simple, they have a great power to weight ratio, they have a short wheelbase and tight rake which allow it to be very nimble. all the weight is down low so it handles great, and they have the toughest v-twin engine and gearbox i have ever seen and they will take alot of abuse. and lastly, you can get one for a 1/4 of the price of a used harley.
now i am a Yamaha fan boy, and when it comes to motorcycles id choose a Yamaha over any other brand or make of motorcycle.

Just got another email from someone that will buy the scooter "right now". I looked outside, but I don't see anyone with cash in hand hanging around. After multiple flops from people that have to have it, I have essentially no hope that anything will actually come through when I am contacted now. I'm trying to find out if I will be allowed to have the scooter buried with me at this point. Maybe a taxidermist could make a statue out of me on this thing. Actually scratch that, I don't want to live on forever on a 4T.
