For reals, I need one too. There are a couple of really nice ones on my local CL right now but I don't have the monies!!! I was trying to sell one of my bikes but no luck. Wintertime is a hard time to sell a bike I guess. 1st world problems, I know, haha. Brendan

My clutch cable broke! This happened a few weeks ago actually. Luckily I was barely out of my driveway when it happened. I ordered a new inner and outer cable for it and installed it last weekend. I've read plenty of horror stories online of folks having a nightmare time running new cables on these vintage gems but honestly, I've found it pretty simple to do with the new cables I've run on this scoot. Just clean and degrease nicely, attach the new cable to the old with clear packing tape and pull it through. Badaboom badabing- a fresh new cable! As you can see, the 37 year old original was in pretty shabby shape! After tinkering around and getting the cable adjusted so the scoot didn't just simply stall when shifting into gear at a stop, I found it much stiffer and harder to pull than the old cable. Hmmm.... I swapped out the standard clutch lever for a 'dog leg' lever and after some more fiddling and adjusting it's back to being nice and smooth and easy to pull like it was before. Of course I do have stiffer aftermarket springs in the clutch basket so it's always going to be a tad stiffer than stock. The new dog leg lever feels much more comfortable though and I like that it feels like I have a little better grip on the clutch side for those quick power launches or wheelies! I've been playing around with mounting my action cam up under the scoot to get some interesting video footage. With the first few trial runs I still didn't have the clutch adjusted properly so they weren't all that interesting but hopefully I'll have something cool to post soon!

Slathering up that new cable with a slippery lube will make it silky smooth!!

Awesome scoot and project. I'm a little jealous. lol Thanks Dave! It was a nightmare for a while until I finally got the flywheel/ignition situation sorted out. Now I love riding this thing so much that my Twist-n-go sits neglected lol.

For some reason the only thing I see (or remember, dunno really) is this thing breaking down, and wire spaghetti!

For some reason the only thing I see (or remember, dunno really) is this thing breaking down, and wire spaghetti! You could say that about 99% of the content of this forum couldn't ya? I have lots of riding vids that honestly aren't all that interesting. So, the only thing to post about are issues that come up.

For some reason the only thing I see (or remember, dunno really) is this thing breaking down, and wire spaghetti! Its Italian, its designed to break!!When I rode Spanish bikes,we'd graft Suzuki teflon coated cables and fork seals to them to make a better machine.I ended up splicing a YZ250 front wheel(drum brake) to my Ossa 250 to get decent brakes..

Ease into turns till you see how it does. I mounted one sort of like that on my Venus and scraped through the housing on a turn. Plastic goes quick on asphalt.
