I'm thinking around 17 or 18 and more torque than HP.

Well that was a real bummer. After hanging around for hours with my bike in line with mostly Harleys for the dyno, they couldn't do it. The wheelbase is too short to chock into their dyno. I waited around for like 3 hours! It was a Grand Opening "Dyno Wars" event so they'll be doing it every month after this. Instead of getting a refund I just had them credit me. They took measurements of my scoot and said they're going to build a custom chock for scoots as there was also a Ruckus there they couldn't do. All in all I did have fun there and met some cool biker folks. Even though it was mostly Harley guys everyone was real cool and liked the old scoot. I did win a can of cleaner and a cheesy cell phone holder in their raffle! I also bought a buy-one-get-one-free helmet they were clearancing! Didn't have room on the scoot for 3 helmets so the other 2 are still sitting behind their counter for me to go pick up sometime this week. They said they'd give me a call when the chock is done and do a "Personal dyno session" with me. Real bummed I couldn't get it done yesterday but hopefully soon!

Yeah, at least the place made good with the situation, assuming they follow-through. I often wonder why Harley guys do dyno days, unless they have all been told that it is ok to have 20 crank HP on a 800 lb bike with a 1600cc engine. Hopefully they get their mount built soon so you can have a rip on it and show those big bikes who's boss. Brendan

I'm a little concerned that it's overkill for my lowly Polini iron cylinder... but I am thinking of trying to port it to better match this exhaust...

At what rpm is the SIP's powerband peak? Looks like a decent upgrade from stock!

Seems like most of the dyno reports available are for older exhausts like the BGM Big Box and SIP Road 2.0. From what I'm gathering most of these performance box exhausts seem to make peak power in the 6500 RPM range... S.I.P. sure makes the XL seem downright appealing though! "After dominating the large-frame touring exhaust market the time has come to challenge the most powerful pipes on the block, traditional racing exhaust systems with separate silencers, your dominance is over! The introduction of the SIP Road XL relegates this class of exhaust to the optical type of tuning
The performance delivery we have achieved with the SIP Road XL is something we are especially proud of. The XL creates extra power over the complete rev range and also enables higher revs – normally only possible in combination with a SIP Performance, PM, RZ expansion chamber or similar. This enables overtaking in all conditions and makes high speeds possible, without any dangerous tailgating of lorries on the motorway while lying flat over your scooter!
The full power potential of the SIP ROAD XL really comes into its own on motor set ups with 20 hp and more.
The results it achieved on various SIP test scooters certainly raised a few eyebrows! A POLINI 177cc cylinder with a 60mm con-rod crankshaft, 28mm carburettor and a YAMAHA RD 350 reed-valve manifold produced 20.9 hp in combination with the XL. One of our scooters fitted with a MHR cylinder, 60mm con-rod crankshaft, 34mm PWK carburettor and a MMW reed-valve manifold was capable of producing 28.3 hp, both measured at the rear wheel! This makes the XL equivalent to the SIP performance 2.0, completely eclipsing other box-style exhaust systems on the market and is 4 hp more powerful than our very own SIP ROAD 2.0 touring exhaust"
