Looks like a good buy for $100. Should not take much to get running. Then you will have a 90mph scoot

If work and weather would cooperate it would be running now. Tomorrow will be warm and no work until 2 pm so I should get it running then.

Yesterday I had a day off and good weather so I put the engine back together, cleaned the carb and the gas tank. The tank is plastic which made it easy to clean. Not much but bad gas in it. Found the gas float unit had a crack in it that makes it hard to tighten, I'll get some epoxy in that. I did a leak down test and all was good. I know how you guys like your naked scoot pics so here it is.
I then tried starting and nothing. I had spark, compression and gas' I tried carb cleaner and nothing. I then noticed gas in the airbox and tried starting it with out and its blowing gas out of the carb. I pulled the intake and found the reeds soaked but holding the gas until I cranked it and covered it with my hand. I pulled the reeds and they were fine so I'm thinking the float valve isn't doing its job very well I did level the float when I rebuilt and it had been off a bit. I'm thinking I'll give the carb one more cleaning. The carbs for this are not cheap and the after market that bolt up are even more. If I cut the flange I'm sure I could get something to fit but I'm not ready to do that yet. Here is a shot of the carb and the intake:
RThe one thing I am learning about the Morini engines is they are very limited in after market parts. I have not found any reeds or intakes. It I add a BBK I'll need to make a larger intake the current one is just 14mm. Work will keep me busy for a few days but I hope to get the carburetor cleaned again so it can start. I want to see how fast this is stock.

That intake manifold looks like my late Suzuki Morini ones, can you post a clearer pic of the manifolds bolt pattern? The Suzuki ones are 19mm. The reed petals may be the same as Minarelli, I've got Malossi ones in my Suzuki, but they come with 2 different screw holes on each side of the petals so possibly Minarelli ones might need to be drilled to suit? My intake (I added the vac port) Showing the bolt pattern a bit better

Raizer I have been following your build with interest, Hyosung built Suzuki engines for a number of years so the Hyosung SF50 and the Suzuki AD50 are very close with only a few differences. The line that runs off my intake is the oil feed and the vacuum feed is off of the case behind the intake. My work is busy for the next week and probably won't be in the garage for a few days. I did pick up a new in plastic stock carburetor on ebay for $25 and hope to get it running next weekend. I also picked up another intake to play with for $17. I will take a better picture of the bolt pattern. From your picture they look different.
Maybe one day I'll have the patience to completely break down a case and repaint it. Please keep up the good work.

Raizer I was finally able to get a picture of the manifold. I hope this helps.

Work slowed and my new Carburetor arrived so I spent some time on the scoot. I got the new carb hooked up and it solved the problem with the fuel leaking and spraying out of the carb. I cranked and kicked an still nothing. I am suspicious of the stator/magneto and CDI. I checked the timing and it looked like it was firing 50 degrees BTDC not the 20 that is specced. I pulled the flywheel and adjusted the magneto (see pic below). After I got it together it would give me a spark or 2 then nothing. If I waited a minute I would get another spark or two then nothing. This is what I had when I first got it and I cleaned the stator and got full spark. I think that the stator is diving or dead. Of course a replacement stator isn't available.
The 2 pins on left 4 pins on right. This might be my best chance.
I'm starting to have second thoughts about the project. Once I have it running its still a Morini engine with limited parts and modding. I have to decide if I'm up for the challenge.
Any help with the stator/magneto issue would be appreciated.

Gayblade, thanks for the information. I think the CDI is part of the problem, I'll call and order it tomorrow.
190Mech, I saw that post and that was an option. Can you tell me what size wire you used, what you used as insulation and how many wraps? I think that would be the best solution. Low I just need to find which coil isn't doing its job. I should have some time this week.

Love those Hyosung scooters.... I worked on Hyosung line of motorized products when I was in Dover DE.... Armigers auto center 2... If in a pinch ya might be able to have them look at their parts catalog for ya.. I worked there so i know the level of service and commitment they give to EVERYTHING that comes in and out... I'm in Mo now and miss the place... I only have a taotao (and a Honda chopper lol), I will have a Hyosung again.

A big thank you to gayblade . The CDI was the problem. I checked the Magneto/stator yesterday and it was putting out voltage, no coil winding for me 190mech. I had a new ordered from Heeters, they are great to deal with, and it arrived today. I hooked it up and hit the starter and big spark. put the plug in and it started right up and purred. I am very happy and this will be my new project to clean and get back on the road. Here are pictures of the CDI's there is a big difference. They are so different I'm not sure how someone could have confused them. I had thought that the CDI was AC but judging by the size it looks like its DC. Maybe its just a better CDI. Now I just need to figure out which wire to pull to de-limit it. If you go to them Korider board they tell you every one is the one. I'll play with that later. Now its time to start cleaning it and get some tags on it so I can ride it before I start modding.

And here's where I place my 'told ya so' comment lol... and btw, if I were you I'd not try to figure the ac/dc mess, the headache will turn to migraines...
On the note of which wire, I know which but not right off the bat.... when ya go to disconnect, use a stretched out paper clip to depress the clip inside the harness on the wire

Yes I will listen to the advice I get here. I know to just pull the pin. On Corder there is a guy whining that he cut one wire and it didn't run so he cut another and it still wouldn't run. I have also seen pictures of CDI's with half the wires electrical taped together. Time to start cleaning and fixing.

Are you sure it's even CDI restricted? What makes you think so?
