I have a basic 50cc taotao. You know, the cheapest of the cheap DWI special. It runs well with my 47mm kit and other thingamabobs that I've added, but to be honest, it's ugly. Not in a cool way or not in a 5 beers and we won't tell my friends way- it's just homely. I need inspiration. Has anyone done body mods to this piggy? Here is what it looks like now Sure, it's not terrible, it's just sort of, well chineese

I totally agree on the homeliness of those. Maybe up it to six beers? hehe. I believe with a little work one could fix these other front body panels. It's basically the newer updated look for the sunny style scoots;

Go nude with the scoot. Find a way to do it right based on your preferences and it will be your very own thing. I too own a taotao (cy50-a1 sport).

My max speed is 40 GPS. It would go faster if I wasn't such a lardass. I was thinking flat black or flat olive green. I need new panels anyway because just about every one is broken. There is some cleverly hidden duct tape on it. I hate that it looks like a cartoon bug. I plan on buying myself a bigger scooter eventually (200 or 300cc) until then this thing will do. Anyone have a link to some "sunny type 2" plastic? Scrappy has some but not all of the farings

My vote would be to turn it into a naked scoot as well. At least then it's ugly i a cooler way and you can add things like better lighting and change the height of the floorboard or add pegs to make it more comfortable for you.

I did a search of "naked scooter" the results were: A) pictures of scooters being worked on B) naked women on scooters
Neither are disagreeable but not exactly the search results I was looking for.
Does anyone have examples of the naked scoot done well?

are all the frames of the 139qmb the same? could I use panels from different scoots on my bike? Say I like the plastics from the taotao speed 50 or another 139qmb bike, can I replace all my plastic with that? It would be pricey but if I have a bike that I like on the inside, shouldn't I like it on the outside?

No. The frames/chassis are really the only thing that actually make these scoots different from each other for the most part. There's about a thousand different scooter plastic body styles that fit onto about a dozen different frame styles that all use the same engine- the 139qmb. The frame style of your scoot is called "Sunny Style". Check out this link to get a little better idea: www.scrappydogscooters.com/CHASSIS_PARTS.htmlI once owned a 49cc Baccio VX50 that had TaoTao EVO 150cc body panels on it. They fit because they both used the same 'Hunter Style' frame/chassis. Since your 139qmb is mounted in a Sunny Style chassis, you'd need Sunny style body panels- I've only seen a few different variations of the Sunny Style plastics, the best looking of which- in my opinion of course- is the pic I showed a few posts above. To make things even more confusing, I've also seen Sunny Style scoots with 2t Minarelli's in them from the factory!

Hello, thxcuz. I think I know you from another forum, don't I?
I don't have anything to offer concerning your question. But one day I might. I've been thinking about making my own body panels (rear sides and splash guards) in order to give my Kymco more of a Vespa look.
And if I do it at all, I'll get the project started before summer gets very old.
If so, I'll come looking for this thread.
