The taxman wants $11,250 from me and that is almost 3/4 of a whole year's income. In the meantime my diabetic meds were $525 this month and a contractor wants $1200 to repair roof damage from storms and $1900 for gutter repairs. The pit just keeps getting deeper and there are no sheep here in the city. I suppose I could try a toll gate on the road to raise revenue but that would only get me shot by someone or even the police.

Today I didn't do a lot only fitted 4 screws to hold the mudguard on and sweat buckets. I think it was about 90f round here today. Tat is strewn in the garden still and strewn in the trailer. For once in Wales there is no likely hood of rain and I am not covering it Yolanda said what about your tools I display I said good luck they welcome to them I don't take good tools to Glastonbury they end up walking.

My 93 Ranger is rusted like that also. The body is good. The HSLA frame survived fairly well but all the regular old cheap steel brackets bolted to it are rotten as hell. I had to replace all the cab mounts which are not available from Ford or supply houses. The only frame part that is bad is behind the right front spring tower where the AC system dripped water into a pocket behind the spring tower that held dirt and road salt. It was a common problem with all the early 90's Ford rangers and explorers. The spring tower, rear spring hangers, and radius arms are available. I have got real good at grinding the rivet heads off and driving the rivets out with a SDS demolition hammer, an air chisel is too wimpy. A demolition hammer just takes a few seconds. I hate the stupid Ford Twin-I-Beam suspension that knocks your teeth out every time that a front wheel hits a pothole due to the crap design geometry.

Got my scooter haulin’ trailer all ready for a trip next week to the South Dakota Black Hills. Whole family going and we will be riding Iron Mountain Road , Custer Wildlife Loop and Needles Highway. 800+ mile round trip to haul 4 scooters out there (80mph interstate Highway all the way) so I wanted to make sure everything is in tip-top shape. 1 tire is only 2 years old and only has a couple hundred miles on it. The other was very weather checked so I installed a new tire. When I removed the wheel, I noticed a little play in the hub. I removed the hub, trued it up on my lathe, and installed new bearings, seal, and a generous application of grease. Fresh paint before reinstalling the new tire. While I had the tire off the rim, I cleaned that up and repainted it also. Same on the other side. The next two days, my wife and daughter are leaving me home alone unsupervised. They are expecting that the living room and 1 bedroom has refinished hardwood floors when they return. Before I take the big floor sander back to the rental place, I may rub it on the wood deck of the trailer for a few minutes…just to see what happens?!?!🤪

That trailer deck looks like plywood. A floor sander may be a little harsh.

That trailer deck looks like plywood. A floor sander may be a little harsh. I wouldn’t want to sand it down to smooth as that would make the deck slippery. Just a light sanding to tame down the splinters and to have a good surface on which to apply some sort of textured finish.

Just a light sanding to tame down the splinters and to have a good surface on which to apply some sort of textured finish. In that case you might want to just replace the plywood deck with a sheet of 3/4" plywood unless the present deck is the old CCA type. Probably easier and cleaner in the long run. I am not sure what grade or type you would need. The new ACQ crap will rust the steel frame. I am not sure what marine grade plywood is preserved with.

Last week my 18 yo Craftsman garage door opener quit. I opened it and found the main nylon gear in 2 pieces. Got 3 new ones from amazon so I would have a lifetime supply. Today I finally got it fixed and its running better than new.

Last week my 18 yo Craftsman garage door opener quit. I opened it and found the main nylon gear in 2 pieces. Got 3 new ones from amazon so I would have a lifetime supply. Today I finally got it fixed and its running better than new. Good job! Keep after the made-to-fail consumer grade equipment. Unobtainable plastic parts and cheap electronics are often a failure point for both consumer appliances and vehicles.
My 1 year old Craftsman chain drive unit quit, just out of warranty, it was the marginally sized (8v?) regulator on the wall switch-receiver unit. I replaced that with a tweaked 5V-to-8V TO-220 unit and it ran for about 25 years. Then the remote transmitters quit one at a time, -probably cheap capacitors in the RF section. I replaced them with a receiver/transmitter set from eBay and it is now in it's 43rd year of operation. Knock on wood....

It makes me feel Real good to know that a least One more person takes pride in beating the batards at the forced spending game! It's my new policy. Now that I'm retired and have all the time in the world I'll spend the money on parts but I'll be my own labor. I'm no great mechanical genius but I do know how to find and watch the Youtube video by the person that does know the correct way to fix things.

The real death knell for many machines are the damn plastic parts. People that have access to simple machine tools so they can modify standard metal parts to fit are the real winners. Plastics suck LOL.
Watch some of the videos on what can be done with even a small China lathe or even better, -an old US or European lathe. It takes some practice to make stuff but it is a great feeling of accomplishment. People that can weld and use other metalworking tools can really help beat the throw away junk game.
