Have you got different main jets to try? No, just whatever is in this new carb and whats in the old one. I'm about to open them and see what they are. Since this carb was (annoyingly) advertised for my bike and it's stock I'm dissapointed in having to do so many changes. The bike runs great with the old carb, i just had a stripped idle screw.

To me, a carb advertised for something just means it physically fits. Tuning is up to the user. Maybe it shouldn't be like that, but that's how it tends to go. Can you just get an idle screw or is the carb stripped where it screws in? That may be the easiest solution. Otherwise, I'd probably buy some jets, assuming the basics are done like valve adjustment and float level set and you can try things like covering part of the airbox inlet just to see if you can get a change.

Thanks Brent, that's my move today. Figured I'd start it without the air box and see how it ran, then the opposite. It shuts off immediately when I try and pull the choke slightly. The seller advertised it as a direct replacement nothing needed so the cost of jets assortment to make it run made it less value. After pointing this out to the seller he refunded a portion of my money making my total investment $9 so I'm happy to start here and work with it. Just never jetted before so it will be a learning experience for me. I've watched your video for years so maybe I'll figured it out eventually. i found a link where people are having the same issue and we're recommend to go from the 105 jet to the 150. The new jet isn't marked, but appears to be the same size. I'll post it when I get back on the desktop and quote a comment from it. Maybe you guys will have some advice on what to use to start at with him the info from the link of others that bought this Mikuni 24 carb. I found another option on the cable of the throttle to adjust it, tucked up under the gas tank, so I'll use the old carb until new jets come in. This big bore carb DOES indeed provide more power and over rev as everyone who has done this swap has said so I do want to use it.

Okay so I took the air snorkel off of the carburetor and ran it open and it ran perfectly so do you think I can get it dialed in with the fuel air screw or do I just need to rejet

What can I use to fill in this jet and redrill it? The thread pitch is 80, not 90 as it would be so I have no idea where to find any replacements.

Since your problem is above 1/2 throttle, the mixture screw is not the answer. You can try filling the jet with solder.

Great, I'll give it a whack over the next few days. I went back to the stock carb thinking I'd find a tapping tool and retap the hole for 90 pitch threads since I've read of people doing it. That'll give me time to do it right.
