Any more info is really helpful. All that happened is you ran out of gas? Was it running totally fine before? How old is the scooter?is it fuel injected? Is the tank rusty? Have you cleaned the whole carb, main jets, float, bowl, pilot, slow jets, etc. what kind of bike? You can add a signature in your profile of your current set up. Helps immensely.

Don't forget to mention that your mechanic told you that it's okay to run without cooling shrouds.
And that you're actually doing it.

Gunk in tank, came out with those last dregs of gas. Clean your tank, clean your whole carb, maybe replace the fuel filter.

This guy has started multiple threads with the same question several times. He also thinks he has a great mechanic who told him he doesn't need the cooling fan or shrouds. Although he has been advised my several members here to replace the missing shrouds, he has not replaced them. "Yea the mechanic told me i dont need shrouds" Read more: 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/16266/carb-gasket-fit#ixzz4CmALTyiOHe seems to listen to his mechanic but not to us. Billy

100 cc tao tao. Ran out of gas. Change spark plug. It started. Would not go pass 15 mph. Adjusted valves .004 and .005 and cleaned carb diaphragm bowl and jets . Now wont start.

Are you kidding? Several people have told you the shrouds are REQUIRED. Perhaps you should reread your own threads. Billy

I deleted the multiple threads, including the new ones that just popped up. Please stop creating more than 1 thread for the same issue. It's not necessary, clutters the forum, and it's easier for someone to help when all of the info is in one place.
What has been said about the shrouds is true; they are required if you expect your engine to last. They direct air over the cylinder and head to cool it. I have my shrouds in place on a stock engine and my cylinder head temperatures run up to around 400F and I've seen oil temperatures of 280F. Those are hot, so I don't know what yours could be without the shrouds in place plus the mods. Not to mention it may run a little lean as it runs out of fuel, which could create more heat.
