What you gained, is more oomph to get you there. Your stock engine just wasn't cutting it.

If your variator is not tuned correctly and you can't hit top speed because you do not have the power to do so at those variator settings, then yes, more power will take you there. If everything is set to the optimum, then more power does nothing but take you there quicker. Gearing up for more speed does indeed take more power. Don't forget that the wind drag at 50 mph is not twice that of 25 mph, it is four times that of 25 mph and, it takes more power to overcome that. Bill

My original point was that after adding the cam and all the transmission/clutch tuning, he hit 40mph, whereas I hit 40 without all that. Not bragging, just genuinely curious as to why I didn't have to do all that, and more importantly, what would I gain if I did do all that at this point if anything.

40 (actually 42) with my fat ass on it. I weigh 330. Show me any given scoot that will carry a 330 lb person at that speed. Check the scoot speed list, it does much faster. Still tuning it as well. This weekend, we hit 49mph. On the speed list I showed GPS verified at 45mph. I'll update and revise if we get over 50, which I'm pretty confident it will. Riding season is about over and I'm limited on time I can spend tuning and testing.

Ah, I was going off the previous video, I got a long ways to go, but it's going to be a 150 or 250 that's get's me past the 50 mark, just found out I'll be moving back home most likely sometime next year. I know that town and the police well, a 50mph scooter won't fly like it would in Boone.

Kid I sold it to reports speeds in excess of 50mph consistently. He's a lot lighter then myself or Byron, and Byron got it up past 50, so I know that is what this setup can do WOT till it runs out of gas.
