Sounds like your hot or lean. i'll try upjetting some more and record my runs and put them up. Odds are that'll be friday.

Seems like an air leak to me, especially if it's hunting around.

Seems like an air leak to me, especially if it's hunting around. spray all my seals down with ether then? I assume if it revs up where i hit it with ether, thats an airleak?

Heard the propane method works good too, just need the engine idling, Me personally don't like the carb cleaner method as the carb cleaner eats at the rubber.

Carb cleaner and propane both work well but scare me too... I like the "old guy" method- take it back apart and check, cuz something ain't right. It's probably in the manifold or reeds I'm guessing, but I bet you got a leak or maybe a cracked reed.

It flows well through the fuel lines. I pull the hose from the carb and i can drain a half full tank in 3-5 minutes. I'll tear the carb down shortly and check my float needle valve. Maybe it's farked up there? Sounds like it's running out of fuel like Ryan and John said. Did you check fuel flow with the fuel filter? It could be backward or clogged enough to slow the fuel enough to starve the carb.

It could be backward or clogged enough to slow the fuel enough to starve the carb. i decided to stir up the neighbors last night after i cleaned up the float valve seat. I wanted to try eliminating a hot motor too. Started, idled about 15-20 seconds, 1/8 throttle two blocks to the industrial road, then hopped on it. Died a half mile down the road. Checked my carb bowl the second i stopped, it was full. 90 jet installed currently. spaz12 it is a clean tank, clean lines, filter installed with arrow pointing in the flow direction. I disassembled all that yesterday and reassembled it to be sure. Brand new filter only used since this rebuild. Replaced petcock with manual shutoff yesterday. Added a vacuum plug to the manifold nipple on the carb. I did a quick flow test of the line before i hooked up the carb, flowed well. Hooked up the carb, turned the shutoff on again, started and took my test run. I did do several leakdown tests prior to my first start. Sealed the cage to the engine since was the only leak i found then retested to verify. After my first start and the stator fail, i removed the engine for inspection, did another leakdown including soapy water just to be positive. Engine halves, reeds, base gasket, head gasket all were airtight. Only airleak i had was a slight bubble from my exhaust port blockoff plate. I will do another leakdown test to be sure. Cracked reeds could be the problem? I guess i don't quite understand how it would cause the engine to straight shut down like this. I'll pull them friday and check on them though.

To be honest I was just guessing reeds. What does the plug loom like? Wet?

Maybe cdi? Check your grounds?

After sleeping on it, i'm still mentally stuck on checking spark. Like it gets to a point where the spark hiccups then the engine floods. I'll look into it too

What about the umm, float "needle" I think it's called. The little plug thing that attaches to the float and plugs/clogs the fuel inlet. i know you checked the float, but the actual little plug itself? MY float assembly includes the float and the needle. There's a little metal tongue on the float that keeps it level.

I'm thinking cdi. Can't take high rpm. Check your stator and the cdi and make sure they work together. Also, it might be a good idea to cut open the harness and trace back the ground to any splices that could be broke.
Just dropped a throttle cable in the mail for ya.

There's a little metal tongue on the float that keeps it level. Yup went through that last night, thought that was the culprit. Another test run last night after i cleaned the float valve (needle) and the seat (brass tube the needle sits in) but still died on me. Did another diagnosis run today so i could examine the plug when it dies. Plug was soaking wet. So i must be losing spark especially at higher rpm. When it don't spark, fuel floods the cylinder shutting it down. I'll try to rule out anything else spark related first though. I found a dennis kirk article on troubleshooting electrical that i'll share at the bottom of this post for anyone else interested. I just have to find my multimeter and poke through all the cords... www.denniskirk.com/learn/how-to-diagnose-motorcycle

I've been having some issues with my homerigged cable, occasionally it'll hang at a higher rpm when i let off so i have to blip the throttle once or twice and jiggle the cable to get it to settle down lol it'll be nice to have something that don't have a mind of its own lol
