As long as i can solid mount the engine forward and chain drive the rear tire. I think it would give it a bit more of a chopper look, plus i can reduce sprung weight on the rear!

True point. I'm sure my mpg will get better when i start having throttle to spare while cruising too you also gotta love it when your clutch dont engage till 9000rpm and tou sit at the stop light revving the motor like a bike. sometimes i get the cars around me started lol

So i've had some discussions on my cvt set, i'll be getting a hoca vari, 4 and 7 gram sets of dr pulley sliders, and 1k torque and clutch springs. Will also swing by the hardware store and get some stuff to make boss shims. I recall a tech article written by niz76 on how to make your own boss shims. I also got a tool i made - like an expanding collet - that i can use to shape and finish superthin washers. Way off topic, i wish i could fix this phone so i can take and share pictures. I have a few dozen things i need to get images and video of uploaded...

Awesome news, got my job at Dennis kirk, had to break in my new job by getting a pair of VM22/210 pilot jets, 27.5 and 30. They'll be going in... sometime soon? So DK carries a boatload of tires. Gonna look into them a bit and get back to you guys. Gonna eyeball some kendas for mine though

Has anyone tried refabbing the front end for a motorcycle fork?
Bear with me, it still fits the chopperesque build idea. Scrappy longcase jog 90 engine (in some kind of future), 150/70-13 rear tire, 110/70-16 front tire. I know zuki berg's use the 15" front wheel, perhaps i could find some kind of miracle to chop weld and fit a berg triple tree. Or fit some kind of yoke upper and get long shocks, 15-16" wheels and disk brakes. Ideas on this part anyway...
I've been eyeballing that murderscoot build, its been giving me ideas, and my wife hates when i get ideas lol
I want to stretch the rear some. In considering a long case, it should only be about 3-5" of stretch. Might give me some room under the current bucket location for rads to LC down the road. I'll delete the bucket itself, moving the saddle seat down and back roughly where the gas tank is. The gas tank will be replaced with a 4.5 gallon motorcycle tank mounted to a crossmember from the headtube to near the tabs where the current bucket bottom bolts to. Will use another tube bent in a shallow arc to split/reinforce the rear portion of the frame and give the crossmember something to weld to thats up more than the floor supports. With this much stretching out, i'd swap the handlebars with a pair that has a little more reach. I prefer having them about shoulder height, currently they are about waist/lower ribs high.
I've had a bit to discuss this with my welder buddy and another friend of ours, a motorcycle nut. We'll start breaking ground late fall and hope to have updates through the winter. Gonna be a fun one! Hopefully we here in the forum can come up with some ideas for replacing this pinion suspension and coming up with ideas how to refab things to fit a taller stem and 15-16". Cuz that'd be swell

i can dig it. When i get a chance to tear my frame apart more, i'll dig up some measurements to see what will work. Perhaps this will be a future mod for some!

Another journal entry. So i'm doing a cvt update beginning of august. Vari and fixed half, sliders, belt, and springs. My wife says she's getting a bonus in late september and is splitting it with me. A portion of it will go toward a pipe, the rest i'll be squirrelling away for the "great winter overhaul." That includes finding a longcase for a 13" rear, a whole new front stem and forks (see above), a gas tank, rewiring, and lots and lots of welding. If funding allows, it may be finished by april-may. Thoughts?

Pulled the trigger on a longcase mina from 180ºoff - i'm considering an LC stage 6 pro sport mk2, malossi hpc full circle crank, a yasuni c16, and a dell 19-21mm carb on this build - this winter. Want to track down a set of gears to get 11:1 or close. 13" wheel rear with a michelin citygrip rear 150/70-13 tire. I dont mind a drum rear, but i've been looking at a new front triple and forks to get me into a disk brake. I got directed to pit bike steering stems with the upper and lower trees, perhaps i can fit long enough forks to get into a 16" wheel, a 90/80-16 front michelin city grip as well. New higher rise handlebars, a boat load of brake and throttle cables cuz of the added length. I'm sure at this point i'm repeating myself a lot now, but i've really been stuck on a mini-chopper build with a strong daily ride.
Speaking of my daily ride, i have about 25 miles of backroads - lots of wide open throttle stretches - so i'd like to have it running 55mph. I think i could hit that with the s6 and yasuni c16, good cvt and final gears on that 13"... we'll see though huh?

In the last few weeks i've found a fair bit of info on steering headtubes and stems/shafts, triple trees, some slight info on bearings, and all the info in the world on replacing fork oil and rebuilding forks, but little in the rest of the fork, axle, and rotor/caliper dimensions one needs to consider for mounting stuff.
It literally comes down to tearing down my daily rider.
Btw, what exactly in the forks/triple limits the diameter of the wheel? Is it the distance from the axle to the compressed height of the triple tree?

A scoot front end is like the rest of the machine,,Bean counters rule!Just think of the materials and machine work needed for a full dual(top and bottom) triple tree,and the fork tubes and internals need to be longer also!Never mind that a single lower triple tree is super weak and flexy,its Cheaper!!The step thru concept could still be used with a dual tree front end,the steering head tube and stem would be much shorter,allowing for a bigger wheel and brakes..Here is a one off home build that I'd like to copy one day;

I got a friend who's bringing a yama yz80 front end my way saturday. Has a 17" rim already on it, but i'll pull that stuff apart, clean the hub, contact bachmans and see if they can one-off a 16"x2.15" rim and a set of spokes for the hub. Also i'm trying to look into whether my situation would benefit from the $260 revalving update the yz85 forks have. Something about the compression and rebound valves... i'd need to disassemble a fork to understand what they're talking about.
Still havent heard from 180 yet. Kinda hoping to get an update from him... soon? I'd like to get rolling on teardown, cleanup, and trenching on the long case. Plus figure out a rear shock and extension...
