To paraphrase The Cramps "I'm just a mean head hunter looking for a head"
First, some background for those of you who haven't heard my tale of woe (or more accurately a tale of 'woah, I should have done more research').
I traded some stuff that I wasn't using for this scooter
On paper, it looks like a good deal (speaking of paper, I'm STILL waiting on the guy to send me a title)
So there is no head, "no big deal, it says 157qmj". Well I have learned just because an engine case says something doesn't make it as simple as ordering something from scrappy. Not only is this a B case but it's a variation of the B case with the 2 bolts on the valve cover. The bolts dont line up with a normal gy6 or even the normal gy6b. Someone told me this is a Yamaha clone but I can't tell what it is a clone of.
At any rate I purchased what I thought was the correct head.
It wasn't.
Then I purchased another on that I thought would work. It didnt.
Now the smart thing would be to research and ask around. I did and to my delight and found that a guy in my area was an expert at these machines on the old scoot dawg forum. Unfortunately, I learned later he passed away.
So I have a bike that I didn't pay anything for really, but at the moment it's a paperweight since I've searched hither and yon for a head that seems harder to find than the holy grail.
All is not lost though. There is this www.kazumausaparts.com/index.php?cid=4958
It COULD be the right head.
There is also this:
stlouis.craigslist.org/pts/6007984734.html
But I don't really want to drive an hour & spend 200 buh for an engine that may or may not be the right fit.
Also at my local scoot shop there is a 2 bolt b case engine for $100. At least I can check and see if it fits first.
My final solution is to chuck it in the river.
Anyone else have any suggestions on how to deal with an unusual scooter besides the obvious "don't buy an unusual scooter" or "set it on fire"?
