So I decided to build an air scoop for my Triton. I didn't want to glue it on like Brent did with his, so I put 3 screws from the inside of the fan cover. Its about the same size and Brent's but I painted the scoop red, and left the cover stock. I picked up a piece of 4 inch 90 degree angle PVC at ace hardware for like $4.30 and just chopped it to the specs that Brent posted. Filed it all down smooth, drilled some holes and screwed it on. It looks good, and after a 15 min ride, the cylinder was still cool to the touch. I can hear it sucking air now when I turn my head to listen. Thanks for another great idea Brent!

Glad to help. Got any pics for us?
It would be interesting to see what change this mod would make on a scoot with a cylinder head temp gauge.

Thats another good reason to have it screwed on and not glued on. If I ever get a temp gauge I can always take the scoop off and see if theres a big difference or not. I'll go take pictures right now! EDIT: pics! The first picture also gives a good shot of my new exhaust bracket. The 3rd pic shows off the GT5 seat that I had to custom shape the foam on so that it would fit into the regular Triton R4 plastic seat frame.

Thanks for the pics. Nice work. The seat and brackets look good too. I like the red reflector swap as well.

Thanks for the pics. Nice work. The seat and brackets look good too. I like the red reflector swap as well. Good eye on the reflectors! I had 2 spare red ones so I swapped the front fender orange ones out. Let me tell you, that GT5 seat feels so nice on my butt compared to the old R4 foam. I think the only thing better would be memory foam ;D

I still want a gel seat. Just haven't wanted to spend the cash.

:disco:        Ok now that i got that out of the way im sure most will find this entertaining, i just had to laugh myself when i finished this mod I g ot the material at home depot, i went with a thinner black (not run of the mill) PVC elbow for my scoop, i also bought some stuff called seal- all (i called the tech support line at 2:30 pm EST to see if they could tell me if it would work on pvc before i bought it, they said they were open between 8:00 - 4:00 CST and to leave a message LOLLL) anyway i read some reviews and took a chance on it, seems i spent about 8.00 total, brought it back to the house, i used a grinding wheel to shave the screw mounts off the fan cover (these didnt seem to have any function but it was clear SOMETHING could be mounted on this cover, maybe something aftermarket i never saw before) After i made the scoop, then roughed everything up with sandpaper, then i prepared the bonding for ten min, then pressed it all together for three minutes, this thing was solid, that seal all was good s$#%& I spraypainted everything flat black to match and waited about ten minutes, i then mounted it with bolts to the scoot I am providing pics of the operation, the final pics i am going to create as links so as not to ruin the surprise enjoy and feel free to comment! Here We Go db.tt/N2sz32VAnd Another ... db.tt/8KZlGTIAnd finally (at this point i was laughing so hard i couldnt keep the phone steady ...) db.tt/zQt8ykKhope you enjoyed, and thanks to the original poster for the awesome mod idea!

I realized the surprise looking through the first pics of it mounted. Thanks for sharing and being a good sport. I think you've actually created a low pressure area there. Looks good otherwise though. lol
