5,000MPH scooter folks.... These suckers Gittyhaaa :burnout: :tongue: It runs out at about 50MPH with her on it so it makes for a good match with the Cobra . They run about the same on accel and top-end :riding: :scoot: :scoot2: Its running good but the darn throttle thing is weird :stumped: Must have a leak? I gotta look into it today. One time you will hit the gas and it feels ok. Then ya come up to a turn so you let off....When you roll back into the throttle just a little to maintain the turn and it acts like you went WOT all the sudden :scared: ! Im finishing my brothers old Sundiro up right now. Then all get back to it.

Here is a vid i shot last night with our sons new cam stuffed in the Cobra,s "hockey mask".. I think it turned out ok other than it shooting off to the left a tad.
I cant believe we left without out helmets :doh:

Hahaa, ok ;D Got the darn throttle thing sorted out. I went to ride it again last night and while backing out of the garage with the scooter running i noticed when i hit the brake the engine revved . So, i did it again while looking at the engine and noticed the rev coincides with the motor mount moving, or swaying.... Ahhh, i wonder if the cable is pinching when the mount shifts and then letting it go as the mount settles.?. By golly, thats it . Got it swapped around this morning and fixed up for her to ride safe now. All i needed to do was unhook the cable from the carb and reroute it under the subframe, or motormount. All is normal again .

Yes.. We are happy to get it straight. I was riding it and she was riding the Cobra. After that little ride i recorded the other day she didnt want to ride the Zip and i cant say i blame her. The throttle thing was nuts. Had me puzzled for a minute because it was so smooth. If i sat still and worked the throttle it would return every time and was smooth as silk to twist. Makes sense now tho... That mount had it bound but only when it moved. It only moves on initial takeoff, or if you back up real quick and hit the brake. The givaway in my case. Either way its fixed now and she likes it :riding:

Thanks, me too. I changed out the starter clutch for the lighter one and figured ide share. Here are the two together, heavy left, light right. The Zip had the heavy metal one that takes a bit more for the crank to spin. And thats all for now. Im sure it will have better throttle response and such. I couldnt ride tonight, just figured ide share ;D

Nice weight loss. Didn't know there was a light style. I thought the 2 styles I had seen were just different between the small spline and large spline crank.

Usually, from my experiences anyhow, the big splne ones are all metal and heavy and the small spline cranks have the lighter ones. I remember reading about someone finding a light one for the big spline crank. They ended up buying one from somewere? I kept that in mind.... Stumbled across this one and had to show the other fine members here that easy little weight saving trick.

The scooter is my sons now and we did our first mod to it together. Hehe, then we raced again to see if it helped . It did! We swapped out the OEM stock non squish style head for a higher compression head with a squish band. I never check the compression nor cc,d the head so i dont have any numbers to give other than maybe an estimated ET in an 1/8th mile?. Stock head Better head Paxton got it all bolted up and i showed and explained squish settings... He checked the squish and came up with .5-.6mm. I told him that would be fine to try since its only 49cc,s, but if it were any more that might be pushing it? Might be pushing it anyway but in our case its fine so far. Got the head bolted on, checked the squish and fired it up. Right away you could hear a difference! The lil 50 was pinging and poppin just a bit louder at idle and the throttle response seemed crisper and better. He agreed and we let it warm a bit. We went for a ride and all seemed well so i decided it was time to race. Before when we raced ide get him off the line and he would slowly real me in and pass me right at the finish for the win. Now he just wins all the way lol. We need to run a few more times to verify but in that first race he took off and walked away from start to finish. Im guessing it to run low 15,s, maybe high 14,s in the 1/8th? Top speed is unknown on this one? It only registers 40MPH and will do that in the first city block. Ive had the speedo needle past the little MPH mark and stuck against the dash plastic and it still climbs in RPM. Im guessing it to be running between 45-55MPH. My Cobra will run high 40,s with me sitting up and the Zip will run right around it now no problem. I would suggest this mod to anyone looking for a little more punch without doing a BBK, or spending allot on a pipe or other exhaust. I know i have seen these style heads cheap in the past for stock bore engines.. I dont know were now tho?

Just to be clear. The stock head pictured wasnt the one from the Zip but close in style. Some have a band or hump in the head all the way around the combustion chamber.... This one did have that. I didnt have one handy when the photo was taken. The hump helps prevent heat buildup in the wrong spots and can increase the life of the engine. On the other hand, this style head is not the best for power.

;D ;D ;D He is ready! I will tell you that much . He is a quick learner and is REALLY interested in scoots. I was very impressed with what he took in , and so fast! Makes me super proud and want to teach him more . Gotta wait till he gets outta "school" before i can teach him anymore today Yep, next year team PiTTBull is going to be a FORCE at the track with Paxton on board ! He is good at racing anything he races and got reaction times that make medicine sick and the devil flinch . He will probably weigh in at around 110-120lbs or so? by next season . Gonna be real interesting to say the least. He wants to race BAD! I had no idea just how bad until the finals. He was very quiet and looked depressed. Its because he wanted to race sooo bad and was down right sick of watching everyone else . I know the feeling! He is ready to ride Skeedr. But to be honest im kinda nervous about letting him do that. Kinda like learning to ride a bicycle and then jumping right into a pro race or something . Im glad he is ready tho
