Now for the sad news. . . . almost ready to start assembly and timing and Joe found a crack in the case. . . .it was hidden well under JB weld and a glob of grease and he says it was definitely hidden on purpose and a dick move. THIS IS NOT I REPEAT NOT Brandons doing which is who I got the case from and he had already contacted who he got it from and another half case was already on it's way before they even contacted me. So not that I planned on having this done anytime soon anyway but gonna be a bit longer now. . . .

Not to sound like an a hole but I quick degrease would of revealed that prior to putting time into the cases. Lesson learned I suppose.

My guess is since Joe does so much work for Brandon there was never any doubt as to wether the case was sound or not but it's being taken care of funny thing is I had mentioned a couple days before I thought I saw a crack turned out it was a casting mark but Joe told me I must be lucky and should buy a lottery ticket. . . .

What is that grey color thing that he put on after porting? You can see it good in the last picture the case on the bottom.

So he is cleaning the cases after porting with some sort of blaster? Looked like some sort of special paint to make the surface slightly rough.
Whatever it is it does look good. Too bad you won't see it anymore once the engine is assembled.

I will ask him tomorrow and get an answer I assumed it was bead blasting to get the junk off when ready to seat the bearings and assemble but can't be sure so will let you know when I get an answer from him
