I thought I blew a fuse last night and maybe I did by attempting to get my blinkers to work. I replaced the fuse and got no power so I thought I really messed something up. This morning I noticed some disconnected wires and after they were connected I was back to where I was earlier - brake light and horn working but not much else. I did notice my starter relay was hot so I put on one from o'Riley auto parts. I jumped the relay and my starter motor started up!
So I'm guessing a bad ignition switch naybe?

Need a switch? I picked up one from meatball on hondaspree.net a while back that I was gonna use for my second 86' since mine was busted, but now I no longer need it with the 87' I just bought, so I have a spare set. Has matching parts for the seat latch with it too I believe.

I wired up a temporary switch and when I pushed the button the brake light dimmed but the scoot didn't turn over. So my switch is questionable but there's something else missing in the puzzle. Could it be the disconnected turn signal?

It's not.
I figured out the turn signal issue and all it proves is that I'm stupid and should look at the manual.
I'm going to study it today and figure out what the heck is wrong between the starting button and starter motor. I can jump the relay and the motor turns (but the engine doesn't start so I'll address that at a later date. Could be a compression problem or maybe something simpler)
It's nice to have the center stand on, although I wish I could get the spring installed.
Once i figure out all the problems it will be nice to experience this honda reliability I've heard so much about.

After looking at the wiring diagram I noticed there was a red wire from the battery positive to the relay. The previous owner had this wire pigtailed to the red wire with the fuse. I'll straighten that out tonight.

Here's an update...it's still not starting. I've noticed when I try to start it the ground wire at the starter gives out sparks.
What bugs me that when I first got it I gave it a kick and it started. Now I can't get it started at all. I've cleaned the carb but maybe I gave to clean it again. I have spark. I haven't checked compression yet but my finger check seemed ok.
So that's where I am.
I painted the plastics brown and it looks nice.
When I get a few bucks ahead I may just swap out the engine with another honda 2 stroke from that period.
