Not having a good morning. Battery is fully charged. I mash start button, solonoid clicks the bendix moves slightly but doesnt turn. I hope it's not a fried starter. Also some clown WELDED a bracket for a side stand right over where the center stand would go. Sheesh!

Great Scott, Marty, the bloody thing started!
start button does nothing now, the relay just buzzes, and the starting motor...well, we wont talk about what I may have done to the starting motor. The first few teeth of the kick start gear are worn but I greased up the gears and fiddled with it anyway and on the 3rd kick it started! I didn't ride it due to the bad rear brake cable but I call that a victory! The wheel doesn't spin when I give it gas but I recon that's just the carb needing adjusting. So scooterwise, today was an emotional rollercoaster. I was excited about new parts, dissaointed about the centerstand nonsense, the bad starter button and the terrible crime I did against the starter motor. then excited again about it kicking over and running.
I'm spent

All is not sunny in spreeland. I tried to kick it over again and it wouldn't start. I have a theory why but my bigger problem is that I stripped the either kick lever or the shaft. It's weird. The lever is loose but also stuck on the shaft. So I have a scooter that does run. I just have no way to get it to run.

kick start is shot...the only alternative I have is to drill through the shaft and the lever and bolt it that way. not impossible, just not what I was expecting. Speaking of not what I was expecting, I think my mounting hole on my carb is stripped. UGH I had it start last week. a while later I tried it again and it started then died. I'll work on getting the electric start going next week. If I have bigger problems like a busted rod or something I am going to part it out. I've had better luck with Chinese scoots.

The threads strip pretty easy... just get a slightly longer bolt and use a nut. That's what was done to my stock aero carb.

You may have to do some clearancing. I had to do this same thing on my stock aero carb. Seals way better when your done tho!

OP - let me know what you're looking for. I just finished stripping a Spree apart. Haven't gotten into the case yet, but the kicker is good, and I can pull the shaft if you want as well. I'm sure we can work out something equitable (I'm rehabbing an 86 and and 87 Elite 150).

Just bought a red 87' Iowa Edition a couple hours ago. Gonna be a sweet looking ride when I finish.

Can't say. It's my first time working with the Variated AF05E. First time I've done an engine swap. I expect it will perform better then my yellow one simply because of the CVT.

So today I resolved the carb problem. And put the new starter on. Next I replaced the start button. I pushed it a few times with no response from the starter relay and oh yeah, the wiring in the right hand controls started smoking.
I'm going to look around for a short somewhere.
I also did some repair work on the plastics so I did achieve a little today
