I don't know if it works where you are, but there is a program called Overdrive that allows you to download e-books and audio books from your local library.

I set a up a second PayPal account that I feed with disposable Visa cards purchased with cash. There's some things I want, but don't want the company to know me. Kind of like dealing with Loompanics Books in the 80s; interesting catalog, paranoid people.
