Wow that scuff in the piston /cylinder is wild . So you think the bridge expanded ? Looks like a old cylinder i had once I cold seized it ,fired the motor up revved it once or twice took off the motor just stumbled hard then shut of it fired right up i rode it with crap for power . Tore it down and it looked like that in two spots . I noticed in your pic a one of your ports looks like it has a little casting difference you might want to check that out . Or is it just a optical illusion that the pic i giving off ? can't tell !! lol

If it were a cast iron cyl, I would of cleaned them up. I was not comfortable messing with the aluminum/nikasil. You can not feel the skuff, its more like a pencil mark. I think I know what made it. I was running a different exhaust and was only using the cyl exhaust studs to hold it on(the case holes did not line up). The vibrations shook the pipe loose and I think a piece of the exhaust gasket got sucked back in. It took a second or two to shut it down.

Well I had a chance to get the cyl head machined. I went from this.(squish step .055") To this.(squish step .017") I had the dome reshaped a bit as well. I used the extension from my compression tester to chuck it in lathe. I did have to do some creative shiming to get the face to run true, but the lathe had a 6 jaw buck chuck that made things easier to true everything up. Figured this was better than using a spark plug with less clamping surface.(hex) I rechecked the cc's of the head and I was shy .4 cc's. Went from 6 cc's to 5.6 cc's. Close enough for now.

That head looks nice 5.6 just right in the middle of the 50/80cc the scale . That is a good idea quick release for the compression tester .. I used a piece of 6061 i found at a friends house .

Well I had some time to put the engine back together. Fixed some other small issues while it was on the bench. With the engine all buttoned up, I checked the squish and compression. .008" Base gasket/shim(from Polini Corsa kit) .030" Squish (.030" Squish from before) 150 psi Compression (143 psi compression from before) So safe to say I was pretty close with head modification. I think the compression will drop some once the engine is ran some, I tend to over do it with 2t oil @ assembly. I pick this up on Ebay, and with a coupon made it a pretty good deal. Even got some swag and go fast stickers too. Also picked up OE plug boot, which are getting harder to find in the states. Also snagged some flywheel keys seeing awhile back when I swapped out the manual water pump to electric I just snugged the flywheel nut and was cranking over the engine for some reason and it fired off and the rest is easy to figure out. Luckily I didn't damage the flywheel or crankshaft and the woodruff key took all the abuse.

I got the new carb on. Using the needle that came with the carb with the clip in the middle slot, pilot is 45(came with carb) and swapped out the 105 for a 140. Was running a 150 with the 28mm. Think thats a good starting point. Just need some decent weather.

I pickuped a Turbo Kit TKR exhaust from RP. Oldgeek liked his so I figured i'd try one. The Airsal(peugot speedflight) exhaust flange is longer than the kymco/honda cylinder flanges. So the new exhaust mounts(2 piece bracket/slotted) will give me better mounting flexibility vs chopping up other exhausts. oldgeek, did yours have this restriction in it ?

I figured id removed that pesky restriction. A little rocking back and forth the spot weld broke. Also cleaned up leftover spot weld.(most of it) It came with another washer. Maybe its if your scooter is too fast you put this washer back in. LOL

Nice to see you fitting the washer back in Never seen that with an exhaust before. Normally they must figure if you remove the restriction, it's staying out.

Yes, mine was exactly the same right down to the random washer. I hope the pipe works as well for your build as it has on my 70cc. Thats a nice looking carb, will be good to see how it works for you.
