Been traveling for a few days Just got a new DC CDI in the mail...installed it and it immediately smoked!
Do I have another problem or did they send me the wrong type?

Are you sure it uses a DC CDI?? I think so....
The one on the bike (while it was running) was much larger than an AC. I checked for voltage on the 2 wire plug and the bottom wire had 12 volts when the switch was on.

Yeah, that should be a DC unit,do you have access to a service manual with a wiring diagram?I think it might be good to look over the iggy system,,Could have been a crap CDI box,but maybe not...

I am still looking for a service manual.
The wiring going to the box confuses me...as I said it is the larger box but, it has 3 wires in the 4 plug and 2 wires in the small 2 wire plug.
I've hedged my bets...I've just ordered one of each. No my favorite practice.

Did some parts painting after a lot of work on the panels

Finally, starting assembly...going slow, trying to put it together correctly...something the former owner didn't seem to care about. It's not done...some of the rear panels are just set in place. Not a great paint job,(looks good from about 10 feet) but beats scrapes and epoxy!

Well, all the panels on the back half had to come off this morning - I forgot about the seat latch cable...took 3 times on and off to get it right.
A pause during one moment of frustration got me to change the gear oil...this meant removing the CVT cover. Now I expected there to be a little difference in the components. Side by side it is striking. Just a couple pics of the clutch bell in compared to a 139qmb clutch bell.
Looking at an oil change this afternoon....still thinking about swapping coolant.

Finished putting the panels on today...spent time unplugging each connector I could find and packing it with dielectric grease. Finished changing fluids (except antifreeze...still thinking about waterless).
Sorry, struggling uploading pics..I will add some when I can.

A new CDI (both an AC and DC) arrived today...Everything indicated that it should be the DC...plugged it in and the 250 fired up!
I was so excited that is was running....threw on my gear and went for a ride. About 15 minutes in I realized I didn't have one tool with my (aside from my pocket knife)...Finished the ride without incident - the idle was set a bit high making it tough at stop lights and I think it is running a bit warm....cooling system flush on the menu.

Looks nice and clean with fresh paint. I'm a sucker for the white/ black paint. How's it drive compared to the smaller 50 and 150 scoots?

It definitely has a more upright sitting position...turning radius is larger and you can't lay it over very far without dragging something underneath...vastly different than my maddog "chopper style". The power is a bit intoxicating...I am so use to running WOT...this pulls like a train to 60! Then the vibration (front wheel out of balance) force me to let off.
I now have a set of Black and White bar end mirrors on the way!
