Some years ago a member on the forum posted a list with information about how many hp was required to reach different speeds on a two wheeler. Can't seem to find it now. Anyone know about this list or maby a similar list ?

According to that list 45 to 50mph is doable with a 47mm BBK, but 60mph needs a 50mmBBK with some gears.

According to that list, my TMAX can't do the 100MPH that it does. Pretty close though actually, I'm about 5HP shy according to manufacturer specs.

There are a LOT of variables that make that list unreliable.

My TZR 125 had an official top speed of 96mph, with 24hp. Or 110 on the clocks if you wanted to believe them! Way out according to those figures. So many variables to consider, but good for a rough guide.

I've seen another calculator that put a motorcycle top speed at 88 with 24hp. I'm sure there's some fudging ability here, but its just a guideline. the only people who are gonna argue over 1 or 2 hp are scooter guys!

The drag of wide tyres, and even tyre pressures can make a difference. Not so much for scooters, but on motorcycles the aerodynamics play such a big part. You can even notice the difference just riding with leathers, and textiles.

I think that's the opposite of atgatt haha. A naked rider would risk so much road rash its uncomfortable to think about.

Omg that made my day.
General weight, aerodynamics (read: naked as a jaybird) and efficiency/friction loss of course play a big role. What would be the test subject of the hp->speed figures?
Still fun to consider or make light of

Whether one has eaten a load of burritos will also make a difference in speed. Solid and/or gaseous ejecta will make a big difference. One must be tucked to get maximum effect.
