This is why I hate booze and drunk drivers even more so. If the police catch the guy, he's looking at a felony assault charge regardless of what he blows. Pulled out in front of me, I honked at him, he turned around and started chasing me, and I mean as in wide open throttle 70 plus wishing I had a forking crotch rocket right now chase down a straight stretch of road, I braked and did a sharp 90 onto a side street and pulled off on a driveway apron, a-hole goes right at me and then hits the brakes and rear ends me in the driveway as I'm jumping off the bike, then he rips out down the road before I could even process it. All I could give the cops was white suv, a county on the plate and what appeared to be a handicap tag hanging on the mirror, and old white dude with glasses.

Not pretty. Nail the Bastard! Not only press charges but make him pay for the replacement parts. (Besides the muffler, exhaust pipe and rear splash guard, hit him up for some new shocks, even if their not damaged, Just say they were)!
I agree with you about drunk driving. I only did that once in my life and it scared me so much I never drove drunk again (I must have a conscience) . I was the designated driver years before anybody coined that phrase.

I'm with Dan on this one. You can ring him up for labor, work time lost because of your transportation, etc. His rear-ending you could have jarred the engine mount on the frame, it may not ride straight on weakened or stressed mount welds... hairline cracks in the aluminum engine cases around the engine mount are difficult to spot - impossible to the untrained eye. (Wink)
On the subject of alcohol, I just don't drink. I get something similar to alcohol poisoning after one glass of wine. Literally makes me feel like i'm dying for 16 hours after. So all the money i could be drinking away goes into scooters!

Haven't drunk for 14yrs since coming to the realisation I was an alcoholic. AA was and still is a great help. Not anti booze though, some can handle it some cannot.

alcohol probably did play a big part, but not all of us who enjoy a drink are like that.
alcohol is not good, and I'm not encouraging drinking, but it can be done resposibly

I'm glad you made it out of that situation with just some busted scooter bits and an adrenaline rush. I've seen too many car vs bike road rage incidents on YouTube and I don't know how people take this stuff lightly. If you're chasing around a bike and trying to hit it with a car or truck, you might as well be shooting at the rider. No, I don't mean that as an invitation for cagers to shoot while chasing us, I mean it can be just as lethal to the target of the aggression and innocent bystanders.
Hope they can find the turd.
I have a strong dislike for alcohol myself, especially when driving is involved. Lost 2 of my best friends around 20 years old, one drunk crashed into a house, another on his motorcycle when a drunk driver turned in front of him.

I lost my first friend to a drunk driver before we even got out of highschool, cut across 3 lanes trying to get to happy hour... The good news is, I just removed a bunch of shiny white paint from the license plate bracket, so at least he got a good gouge left front bumper, also met the cops at the house where I pulled in the driveway, picked up the rest of my muffler shield, it was sitting on top of a foot long skid mark halfway up the apron, no way the guy can claim it was an accident if they get him.

They'll nail him. Glad you are safe.
Got in a car with a drunk driver once, very scary. I'll never do it again or even drive after one drink.

I hope they get him!
Around here the police have the attitude; "If an officer didn't see it, it never happened".
We all need to wear body cams and have dash cams also, -just like in Russia. They need to be recording and uploading to the cloud or other server constantly. You don't have time to fiddle with buttons or apps when shit happens. Unfortunately the camera can be conveniently broken....

It looks like you're a pretty clean crowd. Though I've never gotten a DUI, I have eared it. More than once or twice, too.
Please don't think I'm bragging. Nothing like that. I'm congratulating those of you who've done better than I.
If it's any help, that was a long, long time ago. These days I almost don't drink at all. I do occasionally drink a beer with a friend while we chew on those monkeys in Washington and our state capitol.
A hint for those who still like beer: I buy a six pack of real beer and a six pack of NA beer and I mix the two in a tumbler. People think it's peculiar. But they aren't thinking it through. It tastes close enough to your favorite beer. But following the 'one beer per hour' rule is very easy. I've almost never drank more than the equivalent of two beers in one evening for many years now.
But....anyway, peascreek.....did you see something to convince you that alcohol was involved in this one? Or might it have been non-alcohol related road rage?
I guess it doesn't matter. But I sure do hope that guy faces some serious charges. A few felonies at least.

it should be titled this is why I'm anti DUI, plenty of people drink and never drive when they do, there is no reason to drive drunk, ever! if you are going to be drinking, find anther way there, leave your car or bike at home.issue solved, there are lots of cab companies who will even give you a free or reduced fare home, there are even some police departments who give rides home, just to keep you from driving.
