The painter sent a few pics through today to prove that he has finally got onto my parts . I actually feel sorry for the guy , I think he has had a client that has caused issues and he's had to fix problems that are not of his making . Frame first coat Front fairing looking good , a huge difference from the spray can black with stickers that it was . Transmission cover first coat . Ken

I work on cars too, and people can be very demanding sometimes, and usually very disrespectful to blue-collar guys in general, w/o realising sometimes. I once had a guy haggling with me over price, trying to get a smaller quote from me. He actually told me "I'm not trying to put your kids thru college". I was quoting him $65 for a CD changer install and he wanted it done free. I told him I would do it for less, but I AM trying to pur my kids thru college(someday). Painters can get it pretty bad too, especially cuz of peoples expectations. Everybody wants it perfectly glass smooth but wants to pay maaco-prices.

I love how a white frame looks. Looks wet.

I love how a white frame looks. Looks wet. I'll be honest and admit that it was pics of your build that tipped me over the edge and helped me decide to go White . i was going to paint it Gun Metal grey , but after spending hours studying pics of custom motorcycles I realised that I wanted the frame to stand out not disappear into the background like a darker colour does . The frame is supposed to be celebrated , visible and obvious in a Naked build . I still hadnt fully decided as I dropped the frame off at the painters , I stood in his workshop with a million things swirling in my head , took a deep breathe and said " White " Im glad I did . Ken

White looks great! Or red would have been sweet too, but white definitely stands out more and is perfect for a naked build. Just make sure you clean it on a regular basis because as nice white might be you can see dirt better on it.
Just out of curiosity, how much does such a frame and CVT cover paint job cost over there? No friendship price, just regular price please.

Ken I said the same thing to myself after I seen Spaz's frame for the first time. White just pops. And the frame literally makes the bike. Scooter frames are sexy. Great choice.

I got a ball park figure from him before we started , but a few things changed as we went along , and more prep work ended up being done than what was originally planned . We ended up grinding the welds and really trying to smooth out the look of the frame ( the original frame was actually really roughly put together at the factory and the quality of the welds and the weld splatter was surprising ) . So more man hours than planned has gone into the job which equals more money , also the front fairing took alot of work to prep . It would have been alot cheaper to just buy a new White fairing , but I really wanted the colour to perfectly match the frame . The CVT cover was also a pain in the rear to prep according to the painter ( maybe he's just having a lend of me with all this talk of more work - more money ) I will tell the truth when the final bill comes in , but already I know its in the Hundreds of dollars . I hope my wife isnt monitoring my internet. 😊 Ken

Went and picked up the frame , fairing and CVT cover today , to say I'm happy with the results is an understatement . Here is an example of the finished product , all the welds have been ground down and smoothed off , the result is fantastic in real life ( the pics dont do it justice ) Remember this is what it looked like before . I'm to embarrassed to admit what it cost , but it was alot more than I thought it was going to be ( like three times as much ) but after I got over the shock I at least consoled myself with the fact that there was no way in the workd I could have done this myself with my knowledge and equipment . If there is a next time I will probably attempt it myself because this chewed up a huge chunk of my budget , but for now " Such is Life " Ken PS - the build is put on standby this week because I am off tommorrow for a weeks vacation , but while Im away I will be picking up another Aerox that I bought ages ago from down South but never got around to picking up until now .

Looks amazing!
Yeah, decent paint work isn't cheap I'm that guessing that would have been somewhere in the high hundreds at least.
I was quoted from NZ$400 right up to $1300 to have my Gyro fairings painted!

Ya'll get raped over there on that side of the world for parts and whatnot. Over hear you could have gotten that powder coated for less than 200 dollars. The smoothing of the frame would have cost a little more, but not that much. I painted mine for about 40 dollars and I think it looks pretty good. It does scratch easy, but it's easy to fix and most of mine is hidden behind the body panels, so there's that. The wheels of course need to be powder coated.

spaz12 I don't know about in Aus, but it is normally about $100 to have a frame acid stripped then powder coated at my local electroplaters, add another $20 for a glittery clear coat lol. I'm planning on getting a few of my parts powder coated, no good for the plastics though haha
