OK, so 45ish. Still, that's just around a block. I've got 10cc on that scoot. I've had tons of port work, diff heads, cam, carbs, intakes, etc... Just the same as a normal bolt on 72cc kit.

After about 5 volume checks, I'm up to 5.7cc. Still need .3cc for my goal. Just going slow, making sure I don't end up with more gone than I want.

I still am not sure. Ide have to see it to believe it. Ive seen one on nitrous barely do that.... I trust your output on the subject. Anything you work on we can be for sure to get no BS reviews. Hope it wakes up!

Needing a fraction of a cc, it seemed like a good time to try these. Not sure what those are? CLICK HERE.Looking at the pic, I guess I'll clean up the scratches by the bigger groove, then call it done for now. I'm gonna try the NCY cam and see what clearance I get. If it seems OK, I'll swap it in and the NCY valve springs.

I got the engine back in. Somehow lost my K&N filter? Doesn't seem to be in the garage, so maybe I frgot to tighten it last time. Figures. The plug and piston were looking great. I modified a UNI clone (35mm) to fit over the carb (39mm). Other than that, and of course the head work/cam, everything the same. Knocking the compression down killed all that grunt it had on the initial takeoff. Last time around I did 40.8MPH @ 7900RPM and then it was knocking. This time I ran it all the way out on the same stretch and all the way back and no knocking that I noticed and got to 40.4MPH @ 8000RPM. I gotta check the plug and possibly rejet. Unless I'm farther off on the jetting than I think, it'll probably need a little lighter rollers/sliders. It starts off at about 7100 and I think that works better closer to 7500... or at least it did with my other setup. I just don't think I'm gonna make a reliable 45MPH cruiser and get good gas mileage at my weight. I can make it go 45, but it got a very unimpressive 50MPG. The 4T just doesn't interest me that much if it gets 50MPG. I can do that with the smaller 2Ts and go faster. I miss the 80MPG it was getting, I just don't miss 35MPH top speeds and speeds in the 20s on hills or against winds.

I swapped the 5.5g rollers for 6g sliders. Went from 40.4MPH @ 8000RPM to 43.7MPH @ 8300 RPM. Acceleration improved just a little as well. I swapped in a 100 main jet (from 95) and went 42.8MPH @ 8100RPM. I would have tried a 98, but I must have used that in something else. I went to drill it to 96.5 and broke my bit. It's 94 degrees here right now, so I think I'm gonna pick up a 98 main and go with that to be on the safe side. I ride way more at night when it's 60-70 than when it's 90+. I marked the vari and it used the whole face, so I'm thinking about trying a 1.5K contra and/or getting 5-5.5g sliders. I think it could use a little more clutch action as well, but I only bought 2K springs that have been a little much. I might try and get some 1k or 1.5K clutch springs at some point as well. I really wanna get one of my friends on here that weighs literally 1/2 what I do and see what happens. Just curious if my SunL is still a dog, or it's largely because my weight is equal to the weight of most folks 2up. I'd guess I can do 45MPH on a longer straight now. Wind kicks it down to as low as 36MPH (more evidence that my fat ace is making it slow). Just gotta see if the gas mileage makes me happy now.

My father and I rode about 33 miles tonight and I checked the mileage on the SunL and the Venus. 61MPG for the SunL (even on a 10 mile straight it never got over 44MPH with me sitting up. 50MPG for the Venus. The other bad news... On the way home, about 5-6 miles into WOT I started hearing a faint spark knock. Got just slightly worse. Nothing horrible, but I guess I need more work to be safe.

If the surface is very rough cast it can have rough bits that end up being hot spots. Smooth and polished surfaces tend to take a little longer to gather carbon buildup as well. In this case, the combustion chamber is just smooth because I needed to remove material.

Saw in your "who ya gonna call" thread about all that oil breather slobber,MAN where is that breather plumbed from?Either ya got some serious blowby or just a crappy vent system.We use air/oil seperators in aviation,just a simple can that has a stand pipe in it and a drain at the bottom that goes back into the crankcase,might need to cobble something like that up,can see a future write up about oil getting on the rear tire and sliding who knows where!!

It's just a vent tube on top of the valve cover (that I made larger) and then I use that hose and filter. It does have a shield though under the valve cover. As long as the hose and filter are attached it's a non-issue. The hose wasn't blown off or anything. The hose started to rip and then broke off. It's seemed to have a lot of crankcase pressure since the 50mm setup. No signs of anything gone wrong anytime I've had it apart (too much).
