Just so you know, Jeremy contacted me today to inform me that the upgears are backordered and it will be a couple of weeks, so you probably won't see anything about those for a bit.

I rode 55 miles Tues night with my father. He was off the next day so we went out late when it was cool. Great ride other than losing him on every corner because he's still scared of turns and doesn't see as well at night on top of that. Then last night I rode the SunL for 50 miles. It ran great on those rides with temps of about 75-80 degrees, humidity around 30%, and dead calm winds. I have been able to cruise 40MPH and not even at 100% throttle all the time. I got a tucked down max speed of 46MPH, just a touch closer to my 50MPH dream. I checked my gas mileage last night and I got 67MPG. It's nothing amazing, but it appears the SunL is turning into a halfway decent scoot. For a long time, I never would have dreamed of that.

After riding a lot at night, the headlight was really annoying me. It's made so that it can shine up at you. I can see my own reflection in my helmet. First off, that's scary. Second, it makes it harder to see. I added an "eyelid" with about 10 coats of paint so light can't come through. Unfortunately I was hasty while masking, and I added a lot of overspray too. The whole SunL is ugly and beat from the crash and so many engine installs and just general abuse. It needs a new paint job anyway someday. The good news is, the eyelid works great and night riding is more enjoyable. The SunL kinda looks tired now though.

Nice. I quess that was why those chrome hoods were on my lights. I don't do much night riding so I took them out. :/ The mental image of eye lashes is kinda getting to me, LOL

The Naraku gear set came in from Enviromoto today. BTW, thanks for the stickers and tshirt Jeremy! ;D I had my doubts, but I was excited to see if I could get results like so many others report. Everything I read seems to say these gears will give you increased top speed and you won't lose acceleration or it will improve. I took a pic to show my previous best with the stock gearing. This is flat out, tucked. Then I reset my speedometer and went for a test pass with the stock gears so I could do a fair comparison. Once the test pass was done, I immediately started swapping the gears. I wanted to get done as fast as I could to get the best comparison in the same conditions on the same test route. One great thing I noticed along the way is that the Bando is holding up great. Crazy how I went from snapping belts in a matter of miles with cheap stuff to hundreds of miles with a belt looking new with the Bando. The Naraku gears are 52/14. Stock is 52/15. These gears that make everyone faster, are actually deeper (numerically higher). Stock would be 3.47:1, and the Naraku gears are 3.71:1. I got it all done and took a test pass. Conditions hadn't changed noticeably. Same strip. Sitting the same. Verified tire pressures were the same. All that good stuff. So I went from 45.41MPH with stock gearing to 44.52MPH with the Naraku gears. That's a loss of nearly 1MPH. What I will give them is that I can reach cruising speed a little faster. I believe these gears would let me hold a little higher cruising speed in less than ideal conditions like wind or on inclines. For max speed, I couldn't be more disappointed. All I wanted was to squeeze that extra 2MPH out of my previous max for the magical 50MPH. I don't think it's happening with these gears and this setup. The engine is definitely revving harder at 44MPH than it was at 45MPH with stock gears. Considering I'm 300lbs, if deeper gearing gave anyone a top speed boost it should be me. Not working for me. Jeremy says his customer went from 50MPH with stock gears to 57MPH with the Naraku gears. I'm not saying that didn't happen, but I wonder if all conditions were equal and if his customer was optimistic a little, etc... I can't see it otherwise. Jeremy also says that he recommends thes gears for folks with big bore kits not really stock engines. I would say just the opposite. If you are lacking power, I'd consider these gears to help you keep higher speeds. If you have a bit of power, I'd say save your money unless you are drag racing 1/8 or 1/4 mile.

:-[BUMMER!Are there any more selections of gear ratios to be had for this engine(cheap)?I'd tend to think ya need to go in the other direction,but not too much..If you open the tranny again please measure the distance from the output shaft center to the idler gear shaft center,I'm still hunting gears for the CPI.. :stumped:

John's sentiments are mine also. I guess the result was pretty predictable?
As John can confirm finding the right gear ratios or even gears that fit can be a challenge. I been trying to find some for a 10-15% increase (lower ratio, lower revs). Most of the gears i can find in stock are two to three times as much as I want. I'm looking for about a thousand rpm drop to cruse at around 55 (from 10k to 9k)
