Wasnt 52/14 about what u already had? Sorry, I forget. There are no other ratios that I know of. I also thought it should go the other way, but seeing these other folks claim big gains with these gears, I thought I'd go with a proven method. lol I'm getting ready to take it out for a bit. Even though my max speed dropped, I'm hoping maybe it's more fun to ride in town or the cruise MPH flutters much less. Hard to tell that stuff on a quick test pass. Honestly, I'm just hoping it works out well so I can be lazy and not pull it all apart later.

I took it out on both long roads and in town. Eh. 63MPG from a normal 65MPG. Max speed tucked for a long stretch, no faster than what I got earlier in the day (44.52MPH). Not much improvement in acceleration. I like the stock gears better.

Oh damn. I didn't even notice your comment Reg. By the time I saw a new reply it was on the next page. I was talking about Johns gears at the time. Either way, I'll end up going back to stock gears eventually, so I'll measure when I do. I never even though about measuring the GY6 gears when I did it.
Just thinking, over at ScootDawg no one likes the big tire like I use. They say it disaffects gearing too much. They like the Naraku gears too. How the hell are these folks going faster than me with deeper gears and smaller tires. I must be missing a couple thousand RPM at least, but yet my engine can pull a fat dude like me to 48MPH so youd think I'm doing something right? The more I learn the less I feel like I know. My experiences just seem to conflict with what everyone else sees with these GY6 50s.

This has probably been discussed here before but wouldn't 2t scooters with non-metric tires (3.00/3.5x10) probably have taller gears to compensate for the smaller tires?

Good point Reg!I guess the only 10" wheel 2t scoots have the short case and internal access cover trannys though.. :-/I think the GY6 is different,,

For once they shoulda copied a 4T and just made standard gearing for short and long. There are 10" wheeled 2Ts that are long cases, but they have the monster tires (Eton Beamer, Yamaha Zuma).

Dang bro! Sorry to read this ! I always wondered how the hell that was working for everyone ! Just dont make sense in the ratio world. For example. I had a old stang with a good running (stock short block) 302 and 3:73 in the rear. My buddy built a stout 306 with all the goodies and allot lighter. He had 2:73 gears....Long story short, i still won . I think maybe the stock speedometers are throwing people for a loop

I dunno if I wanna go that far. 57MPH would be some killer revs though. You can see in the guide that the scoot has 3.50x10 tires. Thats OK, but baby tires compared to the 120/90/10 I squeezed in. I doubt he took a grinder to the steel drive face to get more travel, or filed the vari either. I'm not trying to call anyone a liar. I'm trying to figure out where I'm going wrong. J does 57MPH and Reg has seen 10-11000 RPM. Im at maybe 9000RPM and maxxed at 48MPH with stock gears (literally sounds like the engine is going to come apart to me). Do I just need to make a 50cc that likes to rev and stick a skinny guy on there to see 50MPH or what? Its gonna drive me nuts till I see 50. O, i understand you fully. I just dont get it either :stumped: ! I have read and re-read about this in the past because it made NO SENSE to me. If a scooter is topping MPH out because it wont rev any higher (example=Skeedr), putting gears in that will make it rev higher how the hell is it gonna go faster right..... :rofl: . Im not gonna go all out and call J a liar either, but that just dont happen in a real world :no: . Maybe some numbers were off, or a package labeled wrong

As I think you pointed out earlier, this statement is definitely not true from Jeremy's thread.
"Stock gears are a 52/15 gear set about 95% of the time
Naraku gears are 52/14 giving you about 10% more top speed without sacrificing acceleration."
Anyone with common sense knows that the closer the two numbers are together the closer that ratio is to 1/1
