I know, it's just that seeing other ppl report the same results of going faster on big bored scoots and not liking big tires... you kinda figure you must be going at it the wrong way if you know what I'm saying. Common sense of riding and realising I could max out my "top gear" should have been all I needed to tell me not to waste money on the Narakus for what I wanted. I can't give them a bad review all together though. Riding in the wind, I do stay between 0.5-2MPH faster than normal. I can keep speed up hills better too. I mean, they're nice if you wanna cruise at 40 and aren't concerned with RPM a whole lot and could care less waht your full on max is. So basically, if you aren't a speed freak through and through, you might just love 'em.

Jeremy's gears are 7.2% shorter. No one would expect a top speed increase from that especially on a 4t.... maybe on a 2t that needs more revs to get on the pipe. The right windshield, kind of on the small side, could get you 1 or 2 mph.... or so I've heard.

One of my customers had a windshield and said it slowed him down. He said it lost about 1-2 MPH so he takes it off when he rides in his group so he can keep up better. It was medium sized I'd say. I think the trick for max speed would be a very small windshield that just covers the area you take up when tucked. I hate tucking on the SunL or Venus btw. Imagine 6ft3 and about 300lbs tucked on a baby retro. My knees make it so I'd die if I had to steer too much ( I have to sit with my knees out like I'm gonna get one down to turn well) and my fat gut keeps me from flattening out too well. lol It probably looks hilarious honestly.

I might have to try a windshield this winter. I don't like the look, but it's gotta help when it's 40 and below. That and some handguards would be sweet.

The reason I think the gears perform the way they do is they help the engine stay in the powerband longer. Honestly I didnt think they would work either until I tested them out. My customer did some testing with his iphone gps and those were his results.
I have the gears in my drag race scooter also and I noticed better acceleration but I have yet to test the top speed out on a long stretch as the tank is too small for anything more than about a mile. I can tell you it hit 47mph in the 1/8th, nos, and shiftless on it. Pretty sure it had plenty more to give as well.
I was hitting 52 with my first scooter I built and that was with a windshield. Looked silly but worked really well at reducing drag and improving overall performance.

No. Nothing crazy. I have scrappy dog scooters' custom head with larger valves and a 3 angle vavle job. Porting on it looks pretty decent. I'll go into that when I get there. I'm just looking for 2MPH and maybe bigger ports and going back to the bigger 150 carb will push it that far? Time will tell.
I ahd thought about squeezing it... but as I;ve said before, I'd like to go fuel pump and solenoids and a "real" kit. That's too much money for what the SunL can do. Too much money period really.

pulled the engine out of the SunL yesterday and tore it down so I could install the new cylinder head I got a little while ago. I saw this big vavle cylinder head on ScrappyDogScooters.Com ( here specifically), and it sounded like something I had to try. Here's their info... "Unbelievable performance gain not found anywhere. Don't be fooled by other so called "performance" heads. These are the real deal, fully modified in the USA by our professional technicians in house! Original valves in standard heads are only 15mm exhaust, and 18mm intake. These now have 17mm exhausts, and 22mm intakes, matched and hand ported with 3 angle valve seats. We have two options available: Complete assembled heads as shown in the picture here. Option two is with a matched big throat manifold and whopping 24mm carburetor, all matched and ready for 50-60mph scooter fun! We'd recommend using our 47mm big bore kit for a nice match and full potential. Also, be sure and measure the valve to piston clearance as these valves are much larger than original, if you don't, you could bend the valve. $124.95 and $149.95. Can't get even a port job done for that little!" ...And here's the image from their site, so you can see the difference. Here's the head they sent me. Notive the intake vavle appears to be at a little different angle. The exhaust vavle only measure 16mm instead of 17mm also. That really doesn't bother me though. Now here's a closer look at why I'm getting you to look at the intake valve. Notice that the vavle doesn't even look like it will seat and seal properly. Not to mention, stickout out that far is bound to cause piston to valve clearance issues in most engines with close to zero deck. I ran some water into the port, and just as I expected it runs right out of the valve. www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFTbFXwofjkI'm gonna contact ScrappyDog, but I wanted to post this here as an update as well as to say you may wanna steer clear of this cylinder head until we find out if mine was a fluke or if there is a production flaw. I got an email back that they will cover shipping to their machinist and with their machinist's phone number. I haven't replied yet. If I have to do the legwork their banner will come down and they can keep their money. I'll just keep the head to remind me why I won't be dealing there again. Maybe I'll cool off and come up with a better reply, but that's why I haven't replied yet. When I've dealt with other businesses they generally tell me they will take care of it and all I have to do is ship the item. My social anxiety kicks in when I get a phone number (theres a reason I do online orders) and I get crazy, so either I'll calm down or I just won't reply and take a loss on this one.

They should replace the head,no charge and pick up shipping.It looks like the seat was not the right size for the valve,maybe they just dropped a big valve in a stock seat head.Email them back and kindly ask for another head or a refund(once your blood pressure gets back to normal..)
