OK, I just noticed your kick starter mod lol.The hole looks about the about the size of a hammer . Hope things start going better on this one... I think it looks good anyway ;D

I wanted a new CVT cover, but the lack of kick start doesn't really bug me. I have the kick starter with pieces of the CVT cover attached, but it wasn't me that did that.

I know you dont like the kick on your Triton so i figured maybe you were taking a bit of frustration out on that one too lol. It does look about the size of a hammer though.

I've knocked the kickstart out of whack too many times, that's why I hate it... but I've never managed to break a CVT case trying to kick start it.

That would take a heck of an angry kick lol...

Yeah, I'd like to know just how these things get broken like that.

After hearing about your luck with the kick starter i take it pretty easy on mine hoping it wont whack out on me. They are nice to have if you had a charging prob but not if they break when you have a charging prob.

It looks like I may be making some progress...
I installed the new ballast resistor and now I have spark. I could even feel the spark because I didn't realise I was touching the spark plug's base. lol You could say I was lit up with joy. Sorry, I had to say it. Since it ran before I got it I have to assume it was just delicate and it may have been fine for a little bit had I never touched it. Bob told me on the phone he was sure it was something I messed up. Well, I guess you're kinda right. But a bad bump may have done the same thing? I'm just as happy the old one's gone. Parts that I can't touch, or even look at wrong, are of little use to me.
I moved on to attach the new throttle cable and throttle assembly. Now I can take up the slack in the cable so it doesn;t feel super sloppy. The bad news is that the new throttle assembly won't clamp tight to my handlebars. It just slides around freely, but it's really close to being the right size. I'll have to figure that out.
I put in a little gas and fired it up. It won't stay running right now, but I was told it wouldn't idle when I picked it up. It's probably a tuning issue.
The starter clutch must be pretty bad. It misses and misses. Then it catches and starts and takes a moment to disengage.

Do you have the stock throttle? Im interested if you want to sell it? Glad you got it running, i need to figure out what happened to the other ballast resistor on the little scooter im working on. How do you check em?

I need the stock throttle because the headlight and starter controls are in it. I assume you check the ballast resistor by looking at the resistance it's specified to have and seeing if it measures that many ohms. Dunno for sure. Here's the Sunl now... I took it for a ride like this. I went straight to the radar trap where I saw that I was doing 35MPH. I'm suprised it was even that fast. I think it can reach near 40, because coming back home it revved higher and was moving a little faster on a longer straight with a slight decline. It is still indeperate need of some carb tuning, I hope. lol It really has no power. It handles just like the other scooter I worked on with the same suspension. I moved from the normal position to the rear of the seat doing about 30MPH and thought I was gonna wreck it for a second. I can't fit my knees without sitting on the rear of the seat and it's tight even then. Retro's just aren't made for people of my stature. I feel HUGE riding this thing. I thought I was going to get some carb tuning done tonight, but it looks like I'm not. As I came in for a short break and to type this up a friend that I haven't hardly talked to in a couple of years stopped by. Now, 3 hours later, it's dark. That wouldn't normally be a problem, but the headlight doesn't work. I put in a new bulb to no avail. It doesn't appear to be getting power. The taillight does work on stator power, so I can assume the stator and wiring to the switch is good. I was hoping to do engine tuning first, then worry about that. Sure, it's a safety issue... but I like engines. lol

Almost forgot the brakes. Wow. I didn't even forsee them being this bad. It stops... eventually. I joked that I wouldn't want it to go 50MPH 'cause it would never stop with drums... try 35.

I just pulled the plug and it's dark. I started it and then pulled the plug and it's a little wet. I'm using an 88 main and 38 pilot like everyone else with the setup I have. How is it that I'm at sea level and I ALWAYS have to use smaller jets than everyone else? I wonder if some folks don't just throw in these jets because everyone else uses them and assume they are in tune?
It's weird. Bob put the jets everyone recommends in his 150cc while he was here and that worked out pretty well for him.

I swapped from the typical 38/88 to a 36/80 jetting. Before, it surged at idle kind of going from a low idle to a medium idle, sometimes stalling. Now it surges from low to high and sometimes stalls. I can't adjust it to be normal with either jet. I tried to drive it through my yard to see if the 80 was working. It feels a little faster, but then again it's dark and it always feels faster riding in the dark.

I did calm the surging idle to soem degree, but it's still pretty bad. When I stuck the carb back together, I forgot to line up the tab on the diaphragm. It still surges in a 3-400RPM range. I read that this is normal on cold start, but it should calm down in under 2 minutes. Mine doesn't calm down. Maybe it's a problem with the auto enrichener.

Sure isnt a Triton is it? So let me get this straight, that thing is going 35mph with a kit in that b!tch? I know its outta tune but 35mph lol? I bet you wanted to jump off and run it up to speed ... Glad to hear it is running now. I know you will get more out of it but 35mph. I will be lucky to break 30 on the one im working on
