I was talking to Bob and as I was telling him about it I think I may have a clue as to why the stud broke, or I may be completely wrong? When I went to take the nuts off of the cam holder/rocker assembly I was using a standard length 3/8" drive ratchet and I actaully needed to move up to a longer ratchet to get more leverage. I'm not a small dude and I've got some big forearms from doing a lot of wrenching and I used to lift 4-5 days a week when I was younger. Not saying I'm strong, but I'm not weak enough that I should have to get a bigger ratchet to break loose M7 nuts. When they did pop loose they gave out a very disheartening SNAP and I wasn't so sure they weren't breaking then. I know the snap is kinda normal with those setups using copper washers, but with all that pressure... well, it had me wondering about the studs. So I'm thinking they may have been stressed from the machine and/or gorilla that tightened those nuts on there. Just a guess, but there was a lot of force applied to those things at some point.
Oh, I never did see anyone selling full diameter studs. I think I would have to look into some beefier studs if I ever did any performance work beyond the usual stuff.

I got an email back form sunlparts.net. The oil pump and gear pictured are not included. He said they were just stock replacement pumps so they stopped including them. I told him he may wanna check his kits 'cause mine was rusty and most people would complain about that.
I got the parts from Roketa in today, so now I'm just waiting on new studs and gaskets and front wheel bearings.

I got the engine back together and stuck it in the frame, then added the front suspension. At least it's starting to look like a scooter again.

I'm, thinking about taking the sawzall and cutting this POS in half. It has no spark, the throttle assembly is screwed up so a cable cant thread in and stay, the new cable I ordered for a 50cc GY6 has so much play that I can't come near adjusting it out, and I'm sure the list will grow and grow. Never again will I try to restore a crappy scooter like this. I'll stick to Vento's and other scoots that aren't junk.

I hear ya bud...Im beginning to think this POS i was working on is contagious because since its been around Skeedr hasnt been right other than the tires. Sure makes me want to stick with our type of motor on a mid grade or better scooter.

I dunno. I was getting to the point that I was gonna start breaking stuff so I just quit messing with it. It's not terrible. I'm just tired of spending money on it. It doesn't help realising I coulda got my other Triton running with 103cc for the money into this thing or by the time I get new controls etc... I coulda bought a new cheap scoot.
I haven't found controls for it yet. This thing has a ballast resistor that is in very bad shape that I can't find anywhere either.

I checked the magneto and it's within specs. Tried swapping coils. Tried to bypass the ballast resistor, but I'm not sure if that would work or not. I have heard that on some older cars that used ballast resistors you could bypass them long enough to avoid a tow bill if you were close to home or to test (I think the wire would heat up so you couldn't do it for long). Dunno if that would even be the case on a scoot.
I found the ballast resistor, it's listed for GY6 125-150cc engines, not a 50cc for some reason. Ordered a new CDI. Ordered an aftermarket throttle assembly and another throttle cable as well. $100 more into this thing.
If this stuff doesn;t work I'm gonna install pedals, like a bicycle. Then I'm going to pedal it into oncoming traffic to put the scoot and I out of our misery.

Can i see a pic of the ballast resistor if ya feel like it? The 4stroke i was working on has one also. If you didnt already get one i can mail you this one for free just to help. Im going to get this thing cheap for parts. I was thinking about fixing it for my wife to ride but that just mean putting my pretty wife on such an ugly scooter.

Here's the resistor. Like I said, it's in pretty rough shape. PFS has it listed for 125-150cc scooters. It's already on the way, but thanks for the offer.

While I have the camera out, I figured I show you that this is the first scooter that doesn't make my naked Triton look small (granted, it has no fairings now)... The retro looks much smaller in person, but they are only around 1" different in wheelbase and a few inches in overall length.

Looks pretty good to me Brent. That is the same one i have on this scooter i was working on. Thats cool you got a new one dont blame ya. I might end up fixing this heap anyway so i guess i should keep the good parts that are left. I just figured i would try to help a bud. On that note, were do the resister wires hook up? This scoot only has one wire hooked up and i dont see were the other goes. I would imagine the electrical systems are the same in your scooter and this one Brent.

All I know off the top of my head is that I have a wrapped set of two wires coming out to the resistor. One pink and one black.
My digital multimeter shows infinite resistance or flashes. The analog shows somewhere between 0 and 100 ohms between both wires.
