Hi all,
Im new to the scooter scene, we just got 2 of the cheap chinese scooters, 1 roketa 50cc and 1 geely/venus 50cc. The geely one was missing the turn blinker switch and had been wired up to a 12V toggle switch (probably from radioshack). The solder was cracking up on the toggle switch, so I re-wired it to a new switch. While checking the blinkers after attaching the new switch, they just stopped. Now none of the electrical works (lights, headlights, starter), although if I kick start it (and its pretty tough to kick start compared with the roketa) all of the electrical works, except instead of blinking, the blinkers just stay on when the switch is turned. Im not sure what is wrong with it, and Im really not sure where to start, so all suggestions are welcome.
Thanks, Jon

You just have to replace the entire switch assy. The wire that runs into the scoot has a plug connector in there. I think 90GTVERT (Brent) probably knows where to get one. He has a Venus and I'm sure he'll be along shortly. I'll do some searching around and see if I can find one in the meantime.
Are you squeezing the brake lever when you press the start button? Had to ask.
When you try to start the engine do you hear a clicking sound under the seat?

Does it have a on-board clock? if that isnt working i would bet you blew a fuse
check your main fuse - it should be in the battery compartment.

Ok, I was just having trouble finding a replacement one and this one worked at first, so I just used it... I am squeezing the brake I dont hear a clicking, but once it is started up (from kick start), if I try pressing the starter for just a sec, I do hear clicking-could it be that it just needs a new battery (since things seem to work once it is running)?

Theo, it does not have a clock, it has fuel gauge, and once the engine is running it works. Sorry to be a noob, but where is the battery compartment located on these things?

no problem... if you knew the bone headed things i did and do to my scooter... well... lets not talk about that On most ive seen its between your feet - should be a flip up panel (on mine you have to remove the engine access panel to get at it- which is between your legs\feet in the center of the scooter molding... that area... lol) Ill try and find a picture. Update: Its not located there... from the pictures i have found.

Thanks, Ill check those links out now-I could go out and take a pic if that would help, but the D1E41QMB is 2-stroke, correct? This one is definetely a 4-stroke, and it looks to have the same setup as my roketa, which I know is a 139QMB...

Yeah then no need for a picture. It's a 139qmb. That's a good thing. The D1E40QMB's suck. Vertical 2 stroke chain driven slow-ass dogs they are.

Fox is right Brent has one of these... im pretty sure the battery is located pretty openly you just need to find the compartment on the body
May be held by a screw or 2, possibly even a key hole.
Dont want to give you a bunch of info if it wont help, but all the problems you have had point to the fuse. if that is the case you must of crossed a wire somewhere and blew it.
What im saying is that if it is the fuse - whatever caused it will happen again if you dont fix that first. so yes put a new fuse in, but still expect to have to fix the problem because it will happen again.

if you think you know which one you need i always check e-bay first - its almost always cheaper and if you use paypal its alot harder for people to send you crappy product.
