I remember spraying the underneath of the kangoo 2 winters back. Must do it again when back from Portugal.

That reminds Peascreek of the days when I use to clean the runways at a military base driving a road sweeper at 5mph with a rear view mirror facing up through the sunroof so you could see if jets were going to land, not that I could get out the way in time if one did. Plus it was bright yellow and I was told it was also painted in anti radar paint. 😊.

worked the line when I was younger, nothing like getting J1 splashed all over you in sub-zero weather...

That cam belt is critical, even if it's a non-interference engine, if it snaps or slips your dead in the water. Well the van is nearly back home. My friend picked her van up from her son's and as she pulled in mine started steaming up ( smoke they said ). Had a quick look today put water in water pumps very noisy and exhaust blowing near engine somewhere didn't check where. Before starting checked oil filler cap and dipstick for water and again after running for a minute no traces of water. Will get it recovered home and do a compression test on cylinder's see what happens before I do water pump and cambelt. Funny thing was her own van went and broke down 50yds down the road, nothing connected to the original problem though so that's in the garage now too. But she's offered to help pay the bill on mine so I shall let the garage do it if heads not gone.

My neighbor had a backfire in a Chevy with a plastic intake manifold. Blew the hell out of the manifold, fragments everywhere. It sounded just like a 12GA went off and scared her to death. I figure a couple hours labor + parts would fix it at her mechanic's shop. She will have to get it towed.

Well the Renault has served it's purpose can now go off for sale with known faults and serve someone else. Quite likely head gasket gone, plus needs water pump and cam belt. I have no plans to work on it.

Damn started it up to get it moved out of friends way before towing it home. Looks like new engine. Cambelt broke so was going to scrap it but will get another engine or do head and belt. Will wait for warmer weather though.

Timing chains slipped on my son's Lincoln LS, needs major work. I will probably just scrap it since I am not capable of wrenching on stuff anymore.

I'm begining to feel like that with the arthritis setting in this year, will wait and see how I go when it starts to warm later in the next month. Maybe an automatic version will come along cheap that works with body damage so I cant put the bits from my stick shift on it and junk the rest.

Fiat is back in 'merica. Lord help us if Renault returns. As a teen I had a friend who delivered newspapers in a Daulphine. It used more oil than it did petrol. Renault has a direct alliance with Nissan...15 years and counting. The Dauphine was kind of a POS, but ran forever if you were good at electronics. My belief? Fiat is far worse. They both were eliminated for EPA non-compliance. Nothing new. Still happens.

How weird an old friend asked me if I knew anyone who may want her renault kangoo van on a 2002 plate. I had a quick look in the rain after work today am going look again in morning. It's a 1400cc diesel and most of mine can be used as a spares kit. It has a few issues one being the fly by wire throttle has played up with her 2 but could be down to bad weather and standard renault electronic probs with door lock and sometimes having to press the imobiliser button whilst starting to make it fire but I can put me tow bar on it and I even mentioned it to the wife and she has not said no Also it is called Florence and lives in the infamous village of LLanddewi Brefi

Well the bargain of the year is off due to slowing down of work and finance, so looks like I shall slowly be doing up the old beast. Off with it's head! Well at some point and see what damage lays inside. No rush though. School holidays soon and warmer weather so will have a few days a week free to work on it.
