Here I am sat outside in 24f with a head torch trying to fix my car's window switch so I can shut the window and not do another 30 miles through the mountains with the drivers window open again. Damn new fangled electrickery. Twas not a problem when you wound the windows up and down by a little handle. If that broke inside you could push the window up by hand and wedge a piece of wood into the frame or card to stop the window dropping down and fix it at your convenience or never as in my case quite often. On some of my vehicles you just slid the wlndow sideways even simpler. Oh well a trip up to Ivor the Fivers scrapyard tomorrow, bet he's now gone up with inflation now to Ivor the Tenner.

Car repair out in the cold isn't fun, been there plenty of times. My worst experience was an 87 chrysler lebaron 2.2 turbo. The pressure relief valve in the oil pump failed and pressure was blowing the oil filter seal. My crankcase drained itself going 60mph! Spent a few hours laying in snow, becoming an oily frozen mess changing the pump, intermediate shaft (found sheared teeth) and resetting ignition timing.
What year/make/model are you working on?

It's a 2000 Renault kangoo 1.4

Fiat is back in 'merica. Lord help us if Renault returns. As a teen I had a friend who delivered newspapers in a Daulphine. It used more oil than it did petrol.

This one has been fine for years, just clunk's now and again at random times. Never found problem even with it up in the air and going round with crowbar's levering round everything 😊. Nope not the best motors to have problems with. Garage I use don't like touching them.

Managed to shut it over the garage. Need to order switch all on most sites are the opp hand cut outs. Found one on amazon but computer won't let me log on. Try again later 😊. Tiz a very good vehicle for camping in with a gazebo out the back for cooking etc and with back seats removed and the proper foam for sleeping on its more comfortable than our bed at home when we away.

I once changed a set of rear drum brakes on a 1963 Comet in -2 temps, I cycled gloves in and out of the car on top of the defroster vent about every 5 minutes and I still got frost bite on my left hand.

Sometimes there comes a time when a DPDT center OFF DC toggle switch is an option....

Google is your friend. The trick is finding one that is rated for DC current. DPDT, center off, momentary is also preferred for a window motor.

Had a Mazda MX6 I had to rig with a switch like that temporarily, trouble was had no way to mount it so it hung loose from jumpers and required two hands to actually operate ")

Aluminum angle was invented specifically to mount toggle switches...
