What else would you do with an original hood but mount it on garage ceiling.

That's it. Sledge is what we call it here. Another difference I think you will find that piece of your car is called a bonnet.

Back in the dark ages when I was a kid we used automobile hoods pulled behind a vehicle frequently as sleds. Central Kansas is too flat for downhill sledding. Broken bones and lacerations were a frequent result. A sledge is a heavy hammer with a long handle used to break rocks and drive posts. A sledge is also used to drag heavy objects with horses etc. A bonnet is something worn on female heads.
I always turn auto-correct OFF!

Sorry man, thought I had the language differences figured out, must've missed that one. Honest mistake. I spent a lot time in Scotland around 15 years ago for work travel, and just started to associate accents with regions. (.....and learned how to appreciate scotch - Pot Du is a fav, cannot purchase in the states ) Anyhow, one of my checked in bags for a personal holiday was my own mountain bike because I wanted to hit the 7 Stanes. It was great. Rented a car, stick shift on the wrong side and everything! Lovely challenge, felt like I fit right in! Met lots of people, many that I couldn't completely understand, even though they were speaking "english"

I always thought it was weird that English people invented the English language and can't speak English properly. Speak American!

I dunno, I came across a guy in a convenience mart in Oliver Springs TN a couple years ago after bombing the Devil's Triangle in my car. I stopped to buy a bottle of water. He had such a thick accent I could only pick out a word or two. Thankfully his daughter (I assume) was there to translate for me! It was a very interesting stop to say the least!

Brake spray cleaned, WD40'd, and then lithium greased the hood latch on my Taco. It kept popping up on the freeway, as in, the potentially worst time to occur. And I had to keep slamming the out of it to re-latch. I can only imagine losing the hood at 80 mph, holy . It's smoooth as butter now, 6-inch drop and it is secured, ahh. It's always nice to get instant gratification with a little TLC.

Back in Neanderthal times they had a second safety latch on hoods.
