When we're not fixing or modding scooters, we're fixing or modding everything else. This thread is for those other vehicles you put the tools to.

Wifes 06 Trailblazer got a new alternator. Old one died on her way home from work a few nights earlier during our -20F nightly low streak. Couldn't convince her to drive the remaining 10 minutes home on battery alone, so i donned my tinfoil knights armor, left work, and hopped on my jackass steed to save her from imminent cold. At least the wrenching was done at 32F in the positive!

Installed chains on my Flintstone feet. Everything got a light coat of ice here. Still wrenching on the compressor and electrical panels.
Edit: BTW, 'chains' for feet can be made from 30-36" lengths of single jack chain, also called fixture chain sometimes. Just leave the ends as hooks and wrap them around your shoe and ankle. They improve traction on ice etc.

Busting out the wrenches saturday to replace a blown power steering pump and new polycarb headlight lenses on a 1997 jeep grand cherokee. In the mean time, its a brutal upper body workout!

Busting out the wrenches saturday to replace a blown power steering pump and new polycarb headlight lenses on a 1997 jeep grand cherokee. In the mean time, its a brutal upper body workout! Flush the crap out of your power steering system and install a WIX power steering/transmission inline filter or you will be replacing the new power steering pump again soon. There is usually a little slip of paper in the box telling you to do that but everybody ignores it, and shouldn't... All the metal fragments from the lines and pump will destroy the rack or steering box along with the new pump. Always install a BRAND NEW OEM pump not a remanufactured unit. A used OEM pump from the junkyard is better than a reman unit. If the pump makes noise it is shot.

I hoped the pulley/shaft would have held juuuuust long enough to get back home, but it gave. I'll click a pic when its light out. Just hope i didnt take the fuel rail out with a zip-zoomin pulley bell.

Back in the old days we could just cut or remove the PS belt and drive 'armstrong' for a while. I drove a Redi-Mix truck armstrong for about a month one summer. Damn near killed me, literally, when the front tire blew out and I kept it out of the ditch. It did shred both of my shoulders which gives me real difficulties with movement and constant searing pain 24/7 for the last 45 years. Just sitting here feels like someone has a knife in both of my shoulders prying the bones apart, -such is life.

Thats one way to run a vehicle. Damn serpentines these days make bypassing the power steering a bit more difficult to do though. But i got er did! Found that inline filter, got the magnetic one to catch any possible metal bits that may have gotten past the flush. Also had to separate the pulley from the old shaft and press it onto the new one, 35 dollar rental tool. New serp belt, and runs like a dream!

We were busy...new small deck in the back and in front of side door. Recycled wood. Functional for rainy season coming. Prepping for tree planting, by installing electric irrigation pump to take suction from the canal. Built a sump/strainer from 6" PVC, 2 meters tall with holes drilled to allow water flow below surface. (Pump suction is 2", so using a 3" line, inside the 6" pipe)
190mech...what kind of aircraft?
