You need a belt fed auto-shotgun for the moths and a HazMat suit. I have never seen gypsy moths, we have locusts (grasshoppers) everywhere stripping many things down to sticks.
FedEx notified me they had my axle shipment.

The axle assy arrived and it is OK except that it is white which would look like hell. I took it apart so I can sand, prime, and paint it black. I can also see if I can match the blue paint on the trike Monday but that paint may cost $$$.

Now that the axle is here and OK I ordered a 350W 24V 300RPM gearmotor, controller, thumb throttle, batteries and 2A charger. I also purchased a pair of 12V clearance lights to be wired in series for the tail light. I am not sure what I am going to use for the headlight. I have a bracket I can use to secure a LED flashlight to the handlebars. I only need help with a couple hills so I am only using a pair of 12V 9AH SLA batteries. The rest of the time I intend to pedal myself around. I will wait for the gearmotor to get here before ordering a freewheel adapter and sprocket for the rear 15mm axle. I only intend to gear it for 10MPH max.

I did pop in 2 weeks ago and saw it on his bench so maybe done now. ☺️

You should get it powder coated

You should get it powder coated That would probably cost more than the trike.
At the rate this is going I could have dropped the whole trike off to a blacksmith and got it done faster. The electric bits are running about $160 plus whatever misc wire bits, mounting plate, and the rear axle freewheel sprocket runs me. I can't order the axle sprocket until I have the motor and sprocket in hand. I will have to fab a 1/4" aluminuminium plate for the motor mount and some brackets to hold the two batteries and controller. So many of the 'kits' for electric bikes have a ridiculous bag to hold the controller, wiring, and batteries which is a recipe for disaster with overheating components and shorts.

12pieces umpteen fasteners and I have a rattan corner set. Frustratingly it took 4hours and 2 strip downs and some cussing to achieve this marvel of china,s finest. Geoff

Batteries arrived, charger seems to ~work. Gearmotor with 9T sprocket arrived, axle housing has been sanded and primed, just waiting for topcoat and rear 22T sprocket. The tires are holding air at 50PSI. I ran the spokes on the front tire and the rim is running straighter, probably 1mm T.I.R. I think the Chinese vendor was running a 3mm T.I.R spec but that was a little too wobbly for my taste. milly what do you use for a rim spec on bikes you repair? Back in the old days I used to spend hours getting a rim to run straight, probably within 0.25mm or 0.01inch. I am less picky now. The crankset runs smooth and the front bearings are silky smooth after I repaired the hub races. I used the spoke mounted reflector to balance the front tire assy and it worked well. I am mocking up the rear drive with a piece of plywood before I fab aluminuminium crap. LOL I have some #40 chain somewhere around here. I probably should buy some #410 chain but I am too cheap.

The SO says her brakes are making noise. 2005 Chevy Tahoe. Chevy felt the need to use T55 torx to hold the brake caliper to the brackets. Thanks assholes. Damn those things suck. One broken torx bit and 1/2-3/8 adapter later I had one of four stripped out and three removed. Nothing a six inch side grinder can’t remove. I think I could defeat the Taliban with one. After some cutting, drilling and use of a harbor fright easy out I had the offensive bolt out. youtube.com/shorts/p1TnXlSqdBA?feature=share Of course the “shorts” won’t show up in this window. And yes the brake pad was actually worn out and so was the rotor. Three hours later I’m done but my new caliper bolt won’t be available until 4pm Sunday.

Getting a good T55 bit is sometimes the worst part of the job. Quality control for torx bits is bad, either too hard or too soft. I have one Lisle T55 I keep like gold in my tool box since it seems to work. At least your SO told you the brakes were making noise before the rotors fell apart and they turned into breaks...

Got the electrical parts bench tested today. Minor blip with the thumb throttle vs controller but worked it out. I will be able to line up the chain when I get the axle sprocket tomorrow.

Hmmmm WOW! I don't think I have ever had the patience for that kind of precision. I am just eyeballing it now but I got this front wheel down to about 1mm TIR but I don't need to get it any better for this deathtrap tricycle. I do have a number of dial indicators to use but no need. I suppose I could take it to the local bike shop but they would probably turn up their noses at China stuff. I have had to order another part in order to fit everything in the space allotted by the axle housing. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XFZP9WJ/This way I can run my 7-speed chain cassette and my 22T motor sprocket on the same 15MM axle adapter.
This makes me wish I had my lathe up and running. It would be a 30 minute job to fabricate one. I think they are a 1-3/8" x 24TPI thread but I would have to look it up again...
