21mm flat slide carbie is on! But having an issue with backfiring and stuttering at high rpms that's been getting worse (won't even break 40 on the Speedo). After ruling out the jets, reeds and transmission, we got to the stator and ignition coil. The voltage drops to the plug significantly when in WOT. I have a replacement stator, pickup and coil on its way. I'm hoping that the stock electrics can handle high rpms. If not, I might have to Jerry rig a car ignition coil.

Is that pipe melting or hitting the plastic fender?

It's not melting but it does hit the fender if I go over a big bump

I had that problem on my Pink scoot that's a Vino clone. It melted the fender. I saw an exhaust on an ET2 where they modified the stinger to turn down so they had clearance.

Alright fellas, after finding a fault in the ignition and replacing the stator, pickup and coil, we are almost home. But we have a problem. At WOT, it stutters and loses power. At half and even 3 quarter throttle, she runs beautifully. Revs high, accelerates smoothly. But it just runs like poop at wot. The setup is: Stage6 racing 70cc mkii Yasuni C16 Naraku HPC crank Motoforce Reed/manifold combo (with an insert installed) Stage6 racing flat slide carb 21mm mkii Stage6 variator (not oversized) with 3g and 6g weights Stock clutch with strong stiff springs and medium contra spring.
The carbie jet is 100 at the moment. 95 is too lean and 105 is too rich. I don't have a 98 or 102 to try. The throttle needle is in the top position.
It sounds like it's too rich. My top suspicions are the throttle needle position or the reed insert. Any other thoughts? I'm desperate here!

Ignition....had exactly the same with my 70mph axis (kinda the same setup). Swapped the (faulty) athena cdi which i bought 2nd hand off of an auction site with a stock unit and all problems disappeared...
You can encounter the same problems with a faulty plug. It come down to this, on full load when the combustion chamber is densly packet with mixture the ignition system isnt able to create a spark. The mixture acts like an insulator.

Brand new stator, pickup and coil. No CDI on the ET2. New B9ES plug and lead too

It also gets up to high rpm fine if I'm just below wot. Stutters at wot regardless if it's from stationary or moving fast. I'll put up a video in the next day or so

Brand new stator, pickup and coil. No CDI on the ET2. New B9ES plug and lead too Its a coil on a CDI, same as my Italjet and Velo.

Float bowl adjustment. Carb might be running out of gas. Does it recover if you back off? Had the same problem. Bent the tabs to raise the float higher. Just a guess.

Doesn't lag after wot. Goes right back to normal. If if back off a bit it's fine. Just at wot

Pull off the airfilter and see what happens at wot. If nothing happens try restricting airflow and try again. Is the carb under an angle (possible lean/off fuel metering conditions)?
If your problems are the way I interpret them its an ignition problem. Otherwise id wanna be reading more about black or wet plugs and difficult starting, sluggish pickup and high fuel useage.
Is the ignition system properly grounded? Is the plugcap seating properly on the plug. Are you using a silicone cap (prone to bad seating) or the stock plastic one?
Are the swapped ignition parts brand-new or slightly used/2nd hand?
Did you do a leak down test or spray all the gaskets with brake parts cleaner to spot air leaks? I havent read about high and uneven idling or bad idle.

New ignition parts including the spark plug cable and a new loom. It has fixed timing, but it revs out at partial throttle. It's 4 stroking at wot. Doing my head in!

When you say revs out at partial throttle do you mean that when you open it a little the revs go up? That would mean a leak somewhere.

Partial throttle it revs fine. From start to about half way it's all good. Only wot.
