Could the transmission maybe be at fault?. It sounds like the carbie is too big

Carb isnt too big. Even a 24mm would work excellent actually.

It probably is, but I don't see much smoke for a motor thats running so rich it stutters. @ts, did you try running it without the air cleaner? And does it run this way when the engine is stone cold? Try starting it in the morning with the choke kept off and just blast off WOT. Can you make a vid of that? Im real curious if it does the same with engine cold.

It runs like crap with a filter, I was using a big foam racing one. Without oil it ranokay, but as soon as I oiled it, it wouldn't even accelerate. It runs the same cold. Very hard to start cold without using the choke, even using the kick and feathering the throttle. It was doing it on take off too until I leaned out the air mix screw, but I've had to turn it almost all the way out

It runs worst with the filter because that will make it even richer. When you run it without the filter your essentially leaning it out. Read that link I sent, it’ll get you straightened out.

Thanks PIG, I picked up a #35 idle jet and put it in this arvo. I don't have to have the mix screw all the way out now which is nice. I'm a bit worried that I have to go the leanest idle jet I could find to get a decent idle tune, and that's without a filter

IT WAS THE F***ING REGULATOR! After all that, I replaced the voltage regulator, and now I can rev out at WOT without 4 stroking. Makes no sense as the ignition runs on an independent circuit. All I can think is that it was shorting out somehow and decreasing the spark, so it wouldn't keep up at high revs. I'll put up a video soon

I learnt my lesson on chinesium parts. The Stage6 21MM PWK carbie is in the bin. Back to the 17.5mm Dellorto for now. It was nothing but trouble since it was installed. Latest problem was flooding. The float needle had managed to deteriorate in a couple of months since I bought it. Genuine parts from now on. On a side note, does anyone have a keihin 21mm pwk carbie they wanna sell?

If you buy the 24 oko, make sure to machine down the part that slides into the intake boot. Those 24's are basically a 28mm but with a smaller diameter passage. Therefore theres a step at the area where the carb fits into the intake boot. It steps up from 24mm to the intake inside diameter which is bigger since its fit for 28. With the pwk 21's its even worse. Everybody is porting, flowing an trenching but they forget the huge step thats at the carb.

So this happened last week. Not sure how. Something must have locked up. I was driving along then BANG! Luckily I was only going about 30. New engine case and belt on its way

Did you ride without cover? Good question! Those cvt covers add a lot of strenght and rigidity to the cases.
