Thank you Brent, sorry I have been to lazy to go back and edit. I'll do that tomorrow when I'm sitting around at work.

I decided to put the snorkel back in so I got one from AF1 store. They have all things Piaggio available, the snorkel took 10 days to get. I did a test run without and showed a top speed of 51mph:
After the snorkel I down jetted to a true 81 Mj and adjusted the A/F mixture. I did this run and despite sunny skies when I left the garage I found rain. It might have slowed me down because the average was about 48mph:
The snorkel lets the mid range feel good, with no way to adjust the needle I felt a little bog there. My CVT feels good, nice acceleration and it holds well on hills and accelerates out of turns. Of course I will play. I have heavier weights to try, it should hold RPM's down, its taching at 9200rpm and not upshifting. My goal is 55mph so we'll see what I get. I may try and register it as a motorcycle so I can legally do the speed on it, only if I get it to 55 though.

Its been a while since I updated this thread. Well a few other projects got in the way and it was running good so I was happy. When it was out on loan I missed it for its shear fun. Tuesday I was able to get back to tuning. I pulled the CVT cover and reviewed the set up and saw the belt sat down in the variation fine and was just a little down on the clutch. Having mentioned before the clutch has 6 mm more travel than the variator so it's either good launch or top speed. the only thing I might try is heavier weights just to see what I get. With the current set up I'm happy. I decided the snorkel did nothing for the exhaust pop so I pulled it again and up jetted to my drilled 88 and took it for a ride. It gives it a nice sound and what feels to be a little more power. but I decided to go to the 90 to check and yes its still a little rich. Today I went to the 80 and took it for a nice ride on my lap. It pulls like a demon on the hills and is great in the curves. On my only straight run it averaged in the 52 mph indicated range a little better than it had been. I also fixed the leak in the joint on the exhaust. It feels like its sealed now which could explain the minimal popping I had. Like the SR50 this is a nice around town scoot good away from the lights, no one needs to pass me and it pills the hills great. It's funny it feels faster than the SR50, probably smaller tires and lower center of gravity. It may look like a turd but runs great. This one is maxed out on upgrades: 80cc Malossi kit Technigas GP4 exhaust Delta clutch Multivar variator up gear kit Its all in the tuning for speed now.

I bet it's surprised a few cars away from the lights. 😁

It has, they then speed up to get ahead of me. They think its just another broke down Chinese scooter that will get in their way. When I get time off again I'll make some videos of how it handles.

This scooter kept dieing on my housemate when she rode for a while over 40mph, which is always, but would start back in a few minutes. I had always been suspect of the petcock so I picked up a replacement. While draining the tank if I put too much vacuum on the petcock it would stop flowing. I went to pull the petcock and the clamp they put on them is installed before they put the tank in the scoot so the head of the screw is against the metal body. Fortunately it has a square tip on the other end so I loosened it enough to get it out. Put the new one in and while I was putting the gas line back on the carb I noticed that the hose that goes from the overflow barb on the carb to a sensor was off. When I first got the scoot this hose was off and the scooter ran badly. According to the manual its a solenoid valve:
"The carburettor features a solenoid valve "A" that, via an ECU, manages an extra flow of air. It is connected to the carburettor via flexible pipes as shown in the figure. The valve is placed under the helmet compartment as shown in the picture. Pipe "B" is coupled to a filter placed inside the body. The solenoid filter should be cleaned according to the kilometres travelled as instructed in the scheduled maintenance chart."
It was just drawing the extra air all of the time I guess. The CDI on these have 8 pins and it monitors engine temperature as we as the solenoid. All I know is its running much batter. I'm waiting for her to do one of her 10 mile WOT trips to find out if I fixed it.

The scooter is still diving. I took it for a ride and about the time the enricher kicked off it died. I tried starting it a few times and it wouldn't start. I could see it was getting fuel. I covered the air intake and it started. I rode it home, looked at everything again and all was good. I let it idle for about 10 minutes and all was good. When it dies if you hit it with starter fluid right away it starts and runs. I am thinking this is clearly a fuel issue. My lift is tied up with the SR50 so I'll have to work on it old school so I don't want to be spending a lot of time on the ground in the cold.
Here is the plan pull the carb and clean, check float valve operation and triple check the fuel flow. Do any of you have something else you think it might be while I'm in there?

Good call and something I'll look at. It may have gotten dirt in it. I'll look at it and try swapping it with a known good one off of another scooter.

Yesterday My housemate rode home and said there was a problem with the exhaust, she said she just hit a pothole and the muffler got real load. The pothole sheared off one of the exhaust mounting bolts in the case and it was barely hanging on. I'll drill it out and through bolt it. I may put the stock one back on because it is much more solid and can stand up to her abuse, I mean riding.

Well I got that all sorted out and put the stock exhaust back on. It lost some speed but is a much better urban scooter. It was a bitch getting the old one off, the flange that held the downpipes on got bent as well as one of the exhaust studs. The metal body/frame is great until you need to do anything to the engine. I had to pull a stud to get the old one off so I ended up pulling the engine so I could get to the stud easily. Got to out and used a bolt on one side to avoid that problem in the future. The sheared bolt was a simple fix. After drilling on the very hardened bolt in the case I realized that it was in about 1/2" so I tapped the case to 10mm and got a new bolt that just fit and got it secured back on. All is good. Time to look fro another aftermarket exhaust.

This scoot got an oil change and air in its tires or tyres depending on your point of view.

Well today my Housemate took a long ride and came back and said it was acting up. I took it for a ride and didn't get far before I had a problem too. Since I have the time it went up on the lift. When I had pulled the engine I looked at the plug and it was a little dark, not black but a dark brown she had also used almost a tank of gas going 40 miles. I decided to take the jet from 88 to 85 because that's what I had. I also cleaned the carb and made sure all was good there. When I put the carb back on I saw the hose on the petcock was leaking just a drop or so. I put it back on and got a tighter clamp. Took it ot for a short ride and realized that the tank was almost empty so back for my wallet. I filled it up and took it for a longer harder ride and all seems good. The leaking hose could explain the gas consumption and possibly the hiccups. It was definitely fuel related. She says it happens no matter how much fuel is in it. But it never happens to me when the tank is full. I'll watch it and see if it has gone away.
This scooter is definitely slower with the stock exhaust, I know that on a 4 poke it shouldn't make a big difference but the stock exhaust has a really small down pipe. I'm looking at a Techno exhaust right now, I'm waiting for a guy on the Vespa forum to put more miles on his.

The housemate sort of moved out without taking anything but clothes and the scooter. So that starter quit working on it, so of course it came back to get the starter fixed. The starter motor is locked up, probably from her grinding away on it trying to get it to start. I suspected it was the bendix at fist so I pulled the CVT cover and it was fine, a little stiff but cleanable. When I hit the starter button it would make a noise like I'm dead leave me alone and the shaft didn't spin, I tried turning in by hand and no luck. The good news is while I was in there I pulled the Delta clutch for the SR50 and put the SR50 clutch in. Starter is on order, $29 not bad for a Piaggio part.

So I put the new starter motor in and cleaned the idle jet a 35S. It was a fight to get the wire in and I sprayed carb cleaner in but when I put it back on it was only starting and running well a 5 turns out. I put a generic 35 in and had the screw just 1/2 turn out to get it to start and idle smoothly. The generic jets are a crap shoot to what size they really are but this one is fine. As I tried the starter it wasn't quite catching the Bendix every time, so I guess it wasn't as good as I thought. I have a new one on order and that should fix it.
