My housemate has been riding it and it's been running beautifully except the takeoff sucked, it what happens when you put a clutch from a 2T in a 4T and don't do anything. While I was in the CVT I pulled the white clutch springs and put in black. It's interesting because depending on which pack of springs you buy the color can be a different tension. You need to read the chart that comes with them. On this particular set the black are the lightest and gave it a great take off and made it very drivable. Speed is in the same place maybe better. Got the Bendix in and the starter is perfect. She was very happy with it. She starts a new job Tuesday and has a 20 mile round trip commute.

It's back. So after 4 months of nothing yesterday I get a call she's broken down on the side of the highway, not just any highway but Interstate 40. I had to ask what the fu*k made you think you could ride it on the highway. The answer was she was late for work. I'm currently feeling like I have a cold and got tested yesterday so I'm trying to lay low and take it easy. She said it's not a problem it's on the shoulder and she would deal with it tomorrow. Knowing her she probably was going way to fast and blew the engine so I don't know what she thinks she's going to do with it. So I got my hitch carrier and went to get it. The bad news was traffic was backed up from where I got on for 3 miles to the scoot. The good news was I didn't have to try and put this on by myself with traffic doing 70-80. I got it on and brought it home. It's still on the truck while I decide what to do with it. There is no room in the garage and I have much better projects to work on. so here it is:

I 40 Wow! Stupidity is rampant. I bet it is fine, she likely just came to her senses and pulled it to the shoulder to clean out her pants.

No she had no idea what a bad idea it was.
I went out and tried to start it and got clicks from the starting relay. I went ahead and charged the battery, it was already pretty charged. I tried again and just got clicking. This may be as bad as I thought. When I have more energy I'll pull the CVT cover and try turning the crank. If it's the piston it can go back to 50cc with the old one. If it's the crank I will need to rethink things.

Sorry I called her stupid, ignorant would be appropriate instead.

Sorry I called her stupid, ignorant would be appropriate instead. No she was stupid to do it. Her problem now, I have n plans to touch it any time soon. It will go to the storage unit and wait it's turn. Why would I bother getting a 4t 50cc scoot running when I have a 2t 50cc scoot in the lift. I know it has potential but it also has some parts that would look much better on my other Vespas. The seat goes on the ET4, the bucket in the ET2, and I hope the Multivar and belt will fit the ET2. Time for investigation.

She doesn't even realise how lucky she was. Hope your feeling better soon.

Good News!!! She broke the belt. I'm sure she was flying and was lucky that it just disintegrated or the wheel could have locked up on her. there wasn't anything but shreds: It's safely tucked into storage waiting for room in the garage.

She was even luckier than we thought. Should be an easy fix too. 👊

Looks like you pulled the CVT cover to have a look without even having to take the scoot off the hitch carrier. That's pretty handy!
Glad it was not any worse for you.

Don't tell her it's an easy fix, I want the scooter back before she kills herself.
I do like the fact that the hitch carrier is like a second lift. I just rolled my stool out and went to town pulling things. I wish the cultivar would fit something I have and it went back to a stock clutch that does fit the ET2. The seat would be nice on the ET4.

I know this was a while ago but that was the problem. The reason I could never reproduce it was the tank would be near empty and I would fill it and ride with no problem One day she was complaining about it and I took it for a ride and of course it needed gas so I went to take the cap off and it was tight as well fill in your own words. I took it back and told her to just put the cap on and don't put a death grip on it. Problem solved! I had to laugh though because when people have that problem and we tell them to try it we never hear back from them. It is a thing that happens and should be taken seriously.
