Traditionally this event was run on the 4th weekend. It was run last weekend. I'm suprised (well not really ) that I've not heard of this through the media. Speed channel sucks so I hardly ever watch it. The exact time was 9:51 something breaking his old best by over 10 sec. Only 3 miles of gravel remained for this run. Next year 100% will be paved.

Now that's liven the dream I think with the added pavement next year we'll see another new record. IMO I would love to run Pikes Peak on a scoot!!!! Downhill

That was like being in the drivers seat...You couldnt ask for a better video than that. Bong said it best, it was "AWESOME".

Exhibition Powersport That seems like a decent category for a scoot. :spin: The first one up will set a record if anyone is interested. I agree speed channel sucks at times. To much Nascar and not enough off road and other types of races!!!! There is a lot more to speed than Nascar IMO I do like the Barrett Jackson Auctions and other shows though.

Too much crap on that doesn't have anything to do with racing and WAY to much about NASCAR. It was really good when it was SpeedVision but then Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. bought it out and morphed it into a pop culture mainstream money maker at the expense of the true gearheads like Bong and me.

Sweet vid! I'm not a true gearhead cause I watch the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, NASCAR Nationwide Series, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, NASCAR Performance (said it before but every gearhead should watch this one, all tech info), NASCAR Victory Lane, NASCAR Race Day, sometimes NASCAR practice and qualifying and Race Hub. lol Some of those are on other networks like Fox, TNT, ESPN. I'll be tuning into TNT in about an hour for the Daytona 400 so . ;D I also watch Moto GP, Superbike, F1, Lucas Oil Edge, PINKS, Pass Time and some other racing here and there like NHRA, Indy, GP, SCCA, ... NASCAR Performance examples. I think every race series should have a show to explain all this tech stuff... SPEED still sucks from what it used to be. NASCAR Stock cars are a joke to me. Not a single part on those cars is from a stock car. :stars: Did you see Lewis Hamilton lap faster than Tony Stuart in Tony Stuart's own car at Watkins Glen the other day? I don't hate on NASCAR drivers like is supposed to be so pop and almost encouraged in NASCAR these days. I like Tony Stuart. I did enjoy watching that on SPEED.

On the same token, did you see Tony Stuart lap faster than Lewis Hamilton in Hamilton's F1 car? The track dried out so both of them turned better times.
If you wanna talk about a joke, how about F1... what was supposed to be the pinnacle of auto racing and technology... keeps imposing more and more restrictions. That's BS. They wanna start heading toward fuel economy. When I think race car, I don' think fuel efficient. At least NASCAR knows it's place. They aren't trying to be cutting edge on technology etc... What they do is try to create good racing. There were more lead changes at Talladega than the entire F1 season. I love F1 cars, but the racing is almost unwatchable to me at times. It's single file. The main part that's cool is the onboard shots that they don't show enough of.

i havent been to the hill climb in years this is a real big event for colorado springs and having driven the road and i have done a practice ride with one of the guys it is definitely an e ticket ride and it sucks that the road will be paved to give you an idea of the extremes in this race we would set the mash up at the reservoir right near the start line(back in the day this was where the pavement ended) and we would set up the evac hospital at devils playground (about 1/2 way up) there were 3 medivac choppers that were used 2 sat at devils playground one ran from there to the top and the other from devils playground to the mash the third was called in if it was ever needed
we used to set up the hospitals so that the event could afford the insurance and 99% of the stuff we treated was not related to actually running the race most of it was spectators and participants with altitude sickness
it was a great week or so long deployment lots of fun plus i got to meet the unser clan
