My rollers would fall out when removed,I'd put a dab of grease on them to reinstall, worked good for me!

Since all the gears are good, Could the starter clutch cause the "grind"/slip". I will turn over a half turn then.. GRRRRRRERRRR, like the gears are gone or something

Hello Guys..... Been awhile since i posted but i needed the mina engine guys assistance again... This thread was way down by now... I have been rebuilding this engine. What a mess when i got her open and i had finally found the causing issue... That $5.00 plastic oil pump drive gear. I have plenty of pics of metal, scorching, bearing pieces inside the engine.. The bearings were actually half gone(half of the acual balls were gone.) :dunno: Guess that's what happens with no oil and continued abuse.  I was looking in the directory for assistance but it's been so long laying around but i do remember the clip for the LEFT side(var side) seal being in according to brent's pics. It SHOULD be safe to assume that i could not get the seal in place with that clip in place, correct??? Since i did install the seal from the outside after the cases were together.. I hope so, which means this one is missing. :dunno: The broke seal was there but now i don't remember that clip though. I did look at PFS but couldn't locate one unless i was looking in the wrong place.(seen the crank clips but not the bigger LT seal clip) Of course, i have an issue/stopping point here as well.... Do the mina engine cranks free spin when cases together??? Or would they be harder? I'm thinking free spin as well?? :dunno: Thank you guys, for any assistance in these matters i have.........

Should be easy to spin the crank when installed.
There are clips/brackets on each side of the engine that should prevent removal or installation of their respective seals. That clip is just a snap ring, so you could probably find one somewhere besides a scoot parts dealer. If not, I don't see it on their diagrams but try contacting kaseaparts.com. They seem to carry all the little odds and ends.

Hey guys, I am having a b*#ch of a time with rebuilding this mina engine.. NOBODY has a left side snap ring... Won't be able to pressure test w/o one. I have went through 3....SO FAR.. left side oil seals as well.. IS THERE an easier to install this seal. The cases are together so it has to go from the outside.(had to redo the cases 3 times as well   ) This oil seal is killing me... Any help would be greatly appreciated... Thanks guys....

Hey Larry,The snap ring is not 'really' needed, its just there for idiots that try to start engines with the bottem end full of premix! For seal installation, grease the inner seal lip well, apply a light coat of silicone sealant to the outside of seal, carefully tap in with a suitable driver(PVC pipe of the right size)...That should do it! ;D

Hey John, Thanks for the reply on this... Everytime i was installing the seal, the lip on the crank would "turn" the inner lip on the seal.... Then of course it went in to far next time and i keep tearing or putting holes in to the seal. I had planned on getting rid of this scooter but i may need it for a back up. :banghead: ........dam i mis my z...
