After work I went over to Scootopia and the Yamasaki sitting in the corner called to me. So I aired up the tires and got her started, and rode around the warehouse a bit. Still lacking tags and insurance I decided to ride it a very short distance down the back roads. I passed a house just around the corner from Scootopia where I have seen a MINT Honda MB5 in the driveway, and today there was an old but MINT Yamaha 4T in the driveway with the MB5. Anyway I said to myself when I turn back around I am going to stop and try to meet this dude. I rode another 1/2 mile or so and just as I was turning around the Yamasaki cut off and would not restart. 190Mech warned me about the points, and told me they were almost shot, I should have listened! So I pushed the Yamasaki in the direction of Scootopia and when I got to the house I had passed earlier where the scoots were sitting, I stopped and asked the guy in the driveway if I could look at them, he said sure! It turns out he has seen me and wanted to talk, but said he could never catch up to me. After a long 2T discussion I invited him over to Scootopia. He came over and was pretty impressed by Scootopia. We talked a while longer, and I made him ride the blue Kymco. He clearly knows how to ride and took blue around the loop, he said it did 55 on the speedo and he felt like it had a bit more. Before he left I invited him over to 49ccscoot.com I feel certain he will eventually make it over here, he has the sickness for sure.

Walks of shame? Multitudinous walks with my two Sprees, and many with my Express. Mechanical, electrical, carburatoral, you name it.
NEVER with my Ruckuses (Ruckii) --> yeah, a couple of dry gas tanks, but I usually carry a small bottle of gas with me just for those moments.

I had one yesterday. The night before the fuel pump on the SR50 gave up the ghost so it spent the night in the theater. The next day I came back for it, I had a 2 block down hill trip home. The problem is its a one way street the wrong way. I was tempted to just coast it down on the sidewalk but when I got to the bottom and a cop was coming toward me I was glad I did the right thing. The shame was the smug looks from all of the neighbors I terrorize on my test runs.

Very nearly joined this list. I knew there was not a lot of petrol in the tank. Had planned to get some if I went out on the scooter over the weekend. Got about 4 miles and it started sputtering. Made it the last half mile to work luckily. Filled up just down the road from work. It was a close call.

The wife was riding around on her 250 Nighthawk with the Harleys this weekend. She forgot to fill the tank up. No shame walk cause she called me to rescue her. I used the blue ZX to take her some gas.

Pfft.. 250.. you need to let her know scooters are a way of life. Get off the gears and get with the tuning... Hey it’s cool that she’s on 2 wheels in the first place. She’s a keeper!

Every year this week all I hear from her is "I sure would like a Harley, preferably a 48". If I ever get caught up with Uncle Sam, I see a Harley in her future. She is still a keeper though!

Just tell her that as long as it’s a vintage 2 stroke Harley it’s OK.

Well I was heading to the gas station and the scoot started cutting out, pull over and switch to reserve all is well. Get to the gas station fill up and I THINK I switch back to the normal position on the petcock. After shaking the scoot to mix up my oil I take off like a mad man and die 100 feet later. Oops I turned the fuel off. Easy fix but was a tad embarrassing.

Bought a 2008 Yamaha Zuma with >15,000 miles an Athena 70cc kit and an Ebay Special Exhaust for $400.
Bought some upgrade parts, Uni Filter for stock airbox, Gianelli Reverse Pipe, Malossi OR Transmission Kit, Malossi CDI.
Go to hop on the scooter one afternoon and notice the support mount bracket for the pipe is broken and the pipe has no support, good thing I have the new pipe. Get the new pipe installed and take it for a test ride. Take it to get some Ethanol free gas and do some more riding because the pipe is performing so much better than the Ebay Special. Cruising down the road at 40+ when I hear a pop and the rpms spike. I coast it to some shade and pull the CVT cover and verify the belt snapped and thank the gods it didn't lock up my wheel. Pushed it a mile in 90 degree weather to my friend's Tattoo Shop and was in luck that he drove his truck to work that day, and I had the Over Range kit at home waiting to be installed.
On a ride one night with some other scooter trash, blasting along a straight, stop free road when I discovered that my exhaust had lost a bolt and the one that was left backed off enough for the pipe to come off. Not entirely, it was hanging by the support bracket. Luckily I had some new bolts and a headlamp in my seat bucket so I was able to get it back on the road in about 10 minutes.
After the Zuma sat for a few months after it decided it didn't want to start and me not having the motivation to figure out why, I finally decided to figure out why. Get the battery cover off and press on the plug boot. It seats and I decide to try to start it. Two kicks later I am kicking myself for taking so long to check it, because it started right up.
Next day I ride out to meet up for breakfast and a ride with the local scooter trash. It was making a popping sound like it was back firing or something, it had done this before but it went away after it warmed up. pulling away from the last light before the restaurant and the power drops and sounds different. Popped the kit that was on it, or so I thought. After we ate I pull the seat bucket out and take the air shroud off the engine to see a missing head nut and a thin piece of metal protruding from between the head and cylinder. My buddy sees this and opens up his seat bucket, pulls out an energy drink and slams it. Another guy's shop was nearby, and was nice enough to grab a nut that would work and some copper gasket seal. Using the blown gasket as a template and a pair of scissors from another friend's multitool my friend cuts a new gasket out the Energy drink can and we got the scooter buttoned up right there in front of the restaurant in all of 20 minutes. Started up first kick and runs like a champ. Still running that head gasket 2+ months later.

My most recent was a ride to work, roughly 15 miles. The engine just gave in and shut down when I was about a mile away. I smell gas and saw that my fuel line had popped off. I reattach it and continue along the bumpy ass Michigan roads until it pops off again. Finally get to work and zip tie it good and proper. Then as I’m about to head home I hear a chatter in the CVT. Later I find that when the fuel line popped off it decided to pump gas all over my CVT case ( with holes in it) so the belt was slipping and melted the variation fan off. Not quite a total breakdown but it wasn’t being driven home.

Set out today on the third or fourth ride with my buddy since I purchased the Vino back from the dude I sold it to. It was just like old times ......for about three miles I saw him pull into the turning lane and stop. I got turned back around and he was trying to kick start it with no luck, said it just died. Felt like very little compression when I kicked it so I went to the house and swapped my scooter for the van so I could go pick him up. I took a picture of him doing "The Walk"
