Nice job! Never grew Cascade, but I am a brew dog since I was 19...now 62! I lived in Montana before Thailand. Worked for Bitterroot Brewing, so could get pelletized varietals. However, I did try growing some with similar results. Your plants need to stretchhhhhhhh their legs. I began with 12' poles. Second season rendered that worthless. Biggest problem was that the white tails and mule deer would eat them to the ground. some varieties grow more than 30'.
Pellets...little loss.

The ones pictured are Northern Brewer. There are tons of deer around here, and I live only a couple miles from downtown. They are practically tame and irritate the hell outta me - munch on everything (and potentially carry tick-bearing diseases) yet amazingly enough, have not *yet* bothered the hops. They are starting to eat mature sunflower leaves where they only ate plantlings a couple years back. Anyway, Montana to Thailand, nice. I've been to Thailand a couple times and do not get there often enough! I rented one of those 150cc bikes (don't recall what kind, didn't really care at the moment) and got off the beaten path. It was awesome.

I have been to your neck of the woods...but more obscure New York. Whitney Point, Binghamton, Endicott all south of you, (I-81) and Herkamer, where a friend grew up. (I-90)
I have/had family near Clarks Summit and Waverly, PA...also near I-81. (Tunkhannock too!)
I am doing more bike fun here. Two super motos. One for me a Honda CRF250M and a Kawasaki hybrid KLX450 frame with EX400 engine. Having trouble getting a frame however. Kawi does not build the 450 here. The Thai government no longer allows imported parts of certain types. Frames and engines. The EX engines are build here, so no issue. I found a KDX 250 donor bike. It had similar HP, but is a shoehorn job. Prefer the wider bones of the 450. The engine will fit nicely!

Brewing beer is a great way to spend the afternoon, I just brewed an Octoberfest today and kegged up a Cream Ale. Always nice having good beer on tap. I've never tried growing hops yet but they sure look good. Let us know how they taste.

For not knowing any better and having done this for the first time, they seem bountiful. At this point, it's not so much about the harvest as it is about having hops all over the place. There doesn't seem to be so much new wire vine growth now, just more filling out what has already been established. Read: thickening

I brew also. Never got around to growing hops though. (mostly coz I really don't like hop forward beers) I know, I know, your triple IPA with 52 LBS of hops is all the rage. Ummmmmm just not for me. As I write this I'm sucking down a lovely imperial stout at 9.7%

As I write this I'm sucking down a lovely imperial stout at 9.7% TBH, I'm not a big hop head myself. I add ice to IPAs a lot of times - sacrilege, right? It was fun trying to determine what kind of hops to grow tho. Turns out I really like Galaxy hops, then found out most everything is proprietary and you can't get your hands on any ol' rhizome. In addition to that, even if I could get Galaxy rhizomes, they wouldn't taste anything like what they grow in Australia due to soil chemistry.

much like their botanical cousin cannabis Yeah I was wondering if they were gonna be skunky smelling too, but I can't perceive any odor from them, even when the cones are right on my nose. Not sure if that will change or if everything stays locked up in the lupulin glands and has to be crushed to release the oils. Very, very, very, very distant cousin.

Ok guys, since we have quite the beer topic here I've got to ask if anyone else has tried brewing a we heavy. I did it once and it was amazing! Best beer ever. It came out to somewhere just above 8% and so malty. I have plans to brew it again as soon as it cools off some coz the heat will kill the liquid yeast I want to use. By the way just for laughs I named it and had labels printed up. Fat Bastards Scottish ale.

Not sure how long I'll keep this going, so what the hey, 5 weeks. Perhaps until they are dying withering brown stalks.

I had a brew day yesterday and made a Spotted Cow clone beer. I made it before but it was a long time ago but I seem to remember it being really good. I also got the Octoberfest kegged up so it should be ready soon. I think I had a productive day. I also have a Pilsner in the fermenter that I brewed last week. Maybe I can finally get ahead on my brewing.
