If the bond is done cold, when the cases heat up they'll expand a few thou thus breaking that bond..Ya got a way to heat them to a contant temp of 200-250 degrees F till the glue sets?? I'll just pop the cases in the oven along with the wifes casserole! Is this verified or theory? I use thermal expansion to break bonds at work on occasion, so I can see it being a problem. Three different materials, all with different expansion rates. (aluminium, steel, glue) Maybe I should order some .001 shim stock instead.

We all need access to an old oven for engine baking..That casserole may have a 90 weight gear oil taste! I figure 200F for crankcase running temps but have not verified that..A metal shim would be the best, but likely the hardest to fit!

My experience that I just had... Jb in the transfers wasn’t curing (cold temperature) so I placed the cases on top of a radiator heater for 24-36 hrs, when leak tested the cases were still warm and passed just fine. Then I was having issues with tuning when it ate the reed. Leak checked again both sides were leaking. So maybe heat the cases to get everything in place then let cool to cure. Or shim material. But 2T’s are so simple.

Did you check eBay? There seems to be some decent prices there.

But 2T’s are so simple. Have had jb in the 70's transfers for years. No problems whatsoever. Didn't really took any special heat related measures to make it work. I did apply it to room temp cases and let it cure at room temp. I also dimpled the area's with a little burr to make it stick better. Also cleaned and degreased it very very thouroghly.

I haven't had much trouble with room temp application and curing of JB for transfers. I have heated it with a heat gun just to make sure it runs where it needs to before, but no sustained heat. I had a go-round with it last year where I got a leak and it was a pain to get it sealed. Since then, I think I will try to use acetone before applying the JB to make sure everything is clean. That was what seemed to tip it over the edge to finally seal my leak after multiple attempts. Most of the time before that I used brake parts cleaner / alcohol. I also used JB in the syringe instead of dual tubes last time. Makes it quick and easy to get a good mix ratio.

I’ve never had issues with it before but it’s usually at a decent temperature, I think the garage was in the 30’s in this case and I always clean with acetone or alcohol. I was just putting my 2 cents in about the expansion.

Still waiting on shim stock. I should have just ordered the $40 assortment, it would have been here already. Trying to save a buck sucks.

There seems to be a run of slow shipping going on lately, I’ve got something that was due here last Wednesday... still waiting.

Still waiting on shim stock. I should have just ordered the $40 assortment, it would have been here already. Trying to save a buck sucks. Shim stock came today. Wrong thickness (.01 instead of .001) And they sent only 1 instead of a box of 12 as advertised. Now they expect me to pay return shipping AND 20% restocking fee. Never again will I buy from an amazon seller. From now on I will buy only if it comes directly from amazon.
