190Mech sent me the gears from a 4T 50cc scoot so I could see if they would fit this SC10 motor. Sadly they do not. I then remembered I have a Piaggio motor upstairs. So I pulled the gears from that one to see. Sadly they do not fit either.
I see online there are many gear options for the Malossi C/RC-One cases. I wonder if any of that stuff would fit?

I have been thinking alot about what to do for this build situation. So far all of the rides I have taken, I have been staying close to Scootopia when I ride it, but today is such a nice day I decided to take it out for a real ride. I figured what damage could I do short of burning the clutch up, which is already half toast anyway.
It has a slight lean spot just off idle where I could hear a rattle sometimes so I changed the slide from a 40 to a 30 before I left the warehouse. Overall the ride was good. The launch is not going to win any awards, but everything else is pretty good.
I am seeing higher RPM's this time around, I am using some pretty light sliders 5g and a stock contra. The motor has good power from 9200 to 10500. Once I get moving around 10mph the throttle responds really well and the rpms's shoot up to 10500. However when I reach top speed, which is currently around 56-57 mph the rpm's drop to 9500-9600.
The motor seems to really wake up at 10500, but I am not sure how to keep it there. I think going any lighter on the sliders and the top speed will suffer more. I should be hitting 60 easy with this build. I think a sub 150lb rider would really like this thing.
Ideas anyone?

Tired shimming the variator boss at all? Maybe that would free it up for a good start and also keep RPM up at speed.

Tired shimming the variator boss at all? Maybe that would free it up for a good start and also keep RPM up at speed. So I did have it set up kinda tight. I took your suggestion and installed a longer boss to free it up a bit. It helped hold the rpm's up but top speed was also reduced a bit. Going further on your suggestion I took a closer look at the belt and where it was riding. The stock Kymco belts always ride low in the rear pulley, they are just not long enough. It has not really been a problem for me on other builds, but on this one I need all the low gear I can get. So for one last tuning run for today I upped the weights to 5g (they were 4.5g) added a shim to the boss and fit a Malossi 61/11153 belt that is just a bit longer than the stock belt. The rpm's are still up, just a little too much and top speed is down. I think there is some more performance there with the longer belt, I just gotta find it. I also should mention a deer almost jumped on me near the power substation, I was not expecting it. Scared the piss outa me. I am very glad I bought a helmet, have gotten used to it, and that I had it on! I actually LIKE wearing it! I need some more riding gear now.

I wish more of the people that think full face helmets restrict their freedom would give them a shot for a bit. After a while, you don't feel right without it. If you don't have one, get a good riding jacket next. Something with a removable liner, zippered vents, and CE approved armor. CE armor isn't often used for the back protector (gotta buy that later), but at least you can get it in the shoulders and elbows commonly. Textile jackets are often quite good for being multi-season and handling wide temp swings on one ride with use of their features and at pretty reasonable prices. If that's of interest to you, maybe check out Joe Rocket. I know you're a big fella like me and they are "American cut" as RevZilla says. They have stuff in sizes up to 5XL.

I have never used the RM85 reed cage before only the S6 for the S6 intakes and they fit the CT with a little encouragement. I do not know of an adapter that works with that specific reed cage for the AF16. Perhaps the Tadia intakes are compatible? look at the ones Deesparts has, they may fit.

Thanks bro do you have a length measument for the stock af16 driveshaft ? No, all my stuff is the Kymco version of the AF16 and totally different, but 190mech or pitobread may know.

I took a decent ride this evening, had a blast while shaking this 103 build down. There are some issues I need to work out, but even with these tall gears this build is a good one. As it is currently set up, the pipe comes in at 8800 and pulls really well all the way up to 10600-10750 The temps are a little high, it will climb to 300°+ at WOT and I have seen 350° coming off a long WOT The carb needs a larger MJ for sure. Temps putting around under 25 mph are stable around 240°-270° The top speed is 57 ATM. There should be plenty of speed left to find in the CVT. First I have to find and fix an intermittent ignition issue. Sometimes you can hear it miss and occasionally it cuts out completely for just a 1/2 a second when going over a big bump. It has been there since I first started this rebuild. I have already chased it a bit but have been unable to find the cause. The carb needs a few adjustments, but it is hard to tell what it needs with the ignition acting up. The CVT is not finished being tuned yet, the ignition is causing problems there too.

I need some help with ideas for an airbox for this scoot. I was thinking about bolting something like a lunch box to the flange in the pictures. or possibly something like the orange lawnmower filters I used to run.

in regards to the intermittent ignition problem. check the input wires going to the coil. I'm assuming you have the Honda type coil with 2 spade terminals. I know my Chinarelli has only 1 input wire. however, I had a problem with intermittent misfired and I tracked it down to the input wire going to the coil. the wire inside the insulation was oxidized/brittle/cracked. on the outside, you could not tell, it looked perfectly fine. when I cut the insulation back it replace the female spade connector, I ended up cutting back insulation until there was no more oxidized wire. from that point I connected a new wire with a new spade terminal.

chrome CT intake manifold for an air box adapter! I like your creativity! I was wondering if anyone would notice the CT intake! LoL I have struggled for hours trying to come up with something that works right, looks better than fidos backside, and that I can replicate for other builds. There is not much room in that area, and the angles are tight. The stock Kymco airbox sorta works ok if you can cobble up a different connection to the carb for it, but I hate the looks of it. If there was a filter I could find that fits right, and is stockish in its operation I would just buy it.
