okay sooo, i keep my scooter inside my apt. at night so noo gangstas run off with it or vandalize it. inside i keep it pretty cool, 69* about? and every morning i come outside to go to work, start it up, then take off. so the problem is, that the back brakes squeak as i pull them but almost like there was a high spot in the drum, like lets say im slowing to a stop it squeak squak squeak squeaks when "hitting the high spot" if i smash the brakes pretty hard it dosent happen, just if i gently go. Also i park it outside of my work in the heat and when i leave it dosent do it. anybody know a remedy to this problem? its kinda embarassing when it makes loud squeaking noises coming to a light and everyone is looking. lol

To hell with other people think to begin with. Secondly, if you take the back tire off and look for the contact points you'll see that its squeaking due to light metal on metal rubbing. Put a dab of grease on the contact points and that should take care of it, if its coming from the front do the same thing where the pads sit in the caliper.

By contact points do you mean the tab that rotates when you pull the lever/brake cable or the round post pivot or both?

Sometimes the edge of the shoes will rub the inside of the wheel. Or it could be just a buildup of brake crap and or dirt, rust combo? My rear breaks squeak for the first couple times i use em my first trip of the day, then they are fin the rest of the day.
