Health care in the USA is $$$ crap. We need tort reform, single payer, and no insurance companies skimming off the top. Unfortunately we have lawyers, insurance companies, big pharma, and crooked politicians.
There may be all sorts of little things wrong with the thing, but take care of your 'machine' first.

Holy Cow Brent this is crazy. That vid was hard to watch. Haven't had to watch for deer in many years where I live but remember the anxiety of the constant possibility of hitting one when I lived in MI. Hope you recover well brother.

First physical therapy appt today. They did an evaluation, 15 minutes of heat, and then 2 3 minute sessions with a pulley so my right arm could lift my left. All of that went well. On the second pulley exercise, the therapist said you won't go as high this time. Then I did. He just said if the pain is above a 5, stop because at that point you may be moving the clavicle too much. So all of that went better than expected. Then he told me to clean a door. Put a towel on a door and had me stand in front and try to move it up and down with my own power. That didn't go so well. I did the reps they wanted without complaint, but it did hurt more than anything else and mostly was disappointing to see how weak it is. Overall, better than they expected.
I've got 4 more appts scheduled. They said my copay will be about $20 per session. That would make it about $240 if I do them all. Nowhere near what I expected, since I've had some say their insurance didn't cover PT or much at all. I have a $1000 deductible and have used no medical insurance prior to the accident this year, but I think with all of the other stuff coming through soon from right after the crash, that will easily be filled before PT charges are an issue.
Prob the thing that would make me most likely to quit at this point is the people. Having social anxiety, I'm really not a fan of being in a fairly small area with prob 10 people. I'm that awkward guy not getting involved in everyone else's banter, waiting for my hour to be up so I can GTFO. If you stuck me in a room with just a physical therapist, I'd be up for as much as they think I can safely try. I will attempt to stick to it though.
If the updates are getting old, just let me know. I like to keep people up to date and also figured most people don't really do that with accidents and such for a more complete story. It's relevant to being on 2 wheels, so I guess it's not bad to hear about what can happen and how things go... even though every story can be way different.

Oh, I did give the PT a little education about 2Ts. After I told him I was on a scooter and had a scooter site, he asked if I liked 2 cycles or 4 cycles. I said I have both, but prefer the 2 cycles for small scoots for more power. He said he thought it should be the other way around, so I explained 2Ts to him a bit. Then he asked about the gas mileage I get and I think I ruined all of the good facts about 2Ts. I tried.

2T, Have HP Will Use...
My shoulders are crap. I am looking forward to my first doctor appointment in 10 years on the 30th. Maybe he can start helping a little. Unfortunately my previous PT encounters never did any good.

Glad to hear you got the shoulder moving ok. I have an older friend with similar break a few years back. His doctor was S#$!, and did not even see a need for PT. A late second opinion said he was most definitely surgical. His shoulder locked and is useless to this day. Not trying to scare you, hang in there bro!

I guess the good thing about the locals not knowing what they were doing with it is that I ended up with pretty much the top guy in the area. Therapist even said today that he is the number one and if he tells you, you can trust it. I looked over some stuff about Shock Trauma and it's staff and there are a lot of impressive people there. Around here, everyone complains about the local hospital and there are so many stories of incompetence, but any hospital with a better rep is an hour or more away. I can't do what the docs and nurses there do and they had good bedside manner, so what can I say, but they're in different leagues from what I've seen so far. At least the locals didn't guess and made sure I went where someone would know what to do.

Hell no..... Wish you "sticky" this thread or make a progress thread to keep us posted. Thats better then a ton messages from all of us. Heath care sucks. I had major surgery years ago, in the hospital for a week. Total out of pocket was around $400. Had kidney stones blasted out awhile back, one day in-out. I owe the hospital 4k. ef-em, making payments and let them wait for their money. interests free of course Glad to hear you're re-bounding. PT sucks, I think they like seeing you suffer. LOL Keep us posted,

I like the updates... If for nothing else it shows readers what you can expect from an accident when wearing protective gear. Imagine the alternative. Glad to see your making progress, well wishes.

It is more aptly called wealthcare rather than healthcare. It would be hard to imagine a more complex, disparate formulation spread across multi-tiered, multi-economic, ever changing, public/private entities. Please vote for politicians that support Medicare for All so our citizens can have assurance that health issues are not crippling economic issues. Longer-existing societies of far less wealth as the U.S. have resolved this issue many decades ago. Big money lies and disinformation have denied our population the comfort of knowing that a medical incident or condition will not wreck our lives for a very long time.

2nd PT appt today. About double the exercises as last time. Feel OK. Was disappointed at how heavy a 3lb weight feels for 20 curls ATM. Really wild how fast you lose strength and flexibility.
The knee is being a &*^%$. Started feeling better after my dumb decision to walk to the car in Baltimore last week. Thought I was on the right track. Woke up today and it's more stiff again and I'm getting sharp pains with various movements worse than I have been for the last week. I got an appointment for Thur to get that checked out. It may be that it just needs time to heal, but mentally I'm better off if I just know what's up anyway. The shoulder stuff doesn't worry me at all, it's just some pain and it will heal. I'll sit around and think about the knee because I don't know if it will or won't heal properly on it's own or if I'm doing the wrong stuff.

I went to The Orthopedic Center today to get my knee checked out. It has been very slowing feeling slightly better, but I wanted to get it checked anyway. They did a few x-rays. Then the doc came in and said he read the paper and had to chuckle when he read that a scooter hit a deer. I didn't find it that amusing, but he was very nice otherwise and didn't realize all that was involved at the time.
He checked out the x-rays and said that I fractured my tibia, the bone that goes from the bottom of the knee to the ankle. Actually the tibial plateau, so the top of it in the center of the knee. It was pretty big on the x-ray. The doctor said that he gives me bonus points for breaking that, because it's typically only broken in children or people with osteoporosis when the joint is weak. Otherwise it takes a lot of force. So I'm batting near a thousand for impressing doctors and nurses with how I've broken things. Considering I broke this tibial plateau and the scapula that apparently both take a lot of force, I would say this makes me appreciate the helmet even more.
The doc said that if I had came in sooner, they may have tried to do something to make sure it didn't move. It's a non-displaced fracture (didn't move, cracked) though and now near 4 weeks in it's still in place, so he didn't see the need to take any action. I only had x-rays, so they couldn't see the ligaments to see if anything was torn. He said typically they give them time to heal and see what happens and since I said it has improved over time he didn't see a need to go deeper today. I have a follow up there in 6 weeks and if it's not better then, they'll need to find out why.
The only treatment prescribed is to have physical therapy for 3-4 weeks 2-3 times per week and to keep doing what I have been doing by keeping weight off of it as much as I can with the cane. I've had enough of PT already, but what can you do? I guess I'll either end up in therapy 5 days a week or double the time for 3 days. Not thrilled, but it could be worse.
Sleep has been very limited lately. 2 hours one night, 4-5 the next, 1 hour last night. I'm a zombie. Hard to get comfortable, can't shut my brain down (even though it feels like it's barely working otherwise)... just staring at the clock all night long. Lots related to PT, because I stay nervous about having to go in around a group of people. The nights that I get a little better sleep are the nights when I don't have an appt the next day.
Now the cluster$%^& begins. So, when I went to the first ER after the crash the lady there told me that personal injury on motorcycle policies rarely cover anything so she only wanted my health insurance info. Didn't make sense to me that coverage for personal injury on a vehicle of any type wouldn't cover personal injury on that vehicle, but she said that's just how it goes. Since then, I've only been giving my health insurance info to everyone. Wasn't even sure if I had personal injury coverage on my scooters TBH. When I made the appt at the ortho center, they wanted my PIP info from my moto insurance. I told them I'd look it up and get it to them the day of the appt.
Took it in today and they said we need a claim number to do anything. I've never filed a claim. They said this is going to be a bit of a circus and a PITA for a while then. Basically PIP from the scoot should pay first. I have $2,500 coverage there. Then health insurance will take over. So health insurance is going to want to be paid for what they've already paid. I've filed a claim now, but it's going to be a "fun" situation. I will have some big bills I imagine. Just today, for 10 minutes with a doctor and x-rays they wanted $988 out of pocket because of the insurance issues. Can't imagine what the ER and Shock Trauma are going to bill with the time in both, tests, and tons of x-rays and CT scans. Physical therapy is prob $500 or more already. It'll get straight eventually I suppose, but it sucks. So, lesson for today is to file a claim with your scooter insurance company ASAP if you ever get hurt.
