and the other. Now unless the outer edge of the seal is soft, I dont think replacement is possible unless from inside the cases? im guessing here. you can see the steel part that the starter clutch needle bearing rides on and that looks pressed on to an aluminum protrusion which holds the snap ring in place. Which that doesnt even make sense. They put the snap ring there i guess to prevent the seal from walking out and towards the st. clutch. But if the seal is bigger than the alum protrusion holding it in, then the snap ring is pointless, right? The other side seal comes out from the outside. ive seen plenty of vids of this being done. So no one has replaced the seal behind their vari?? I was told that they go bad a lot.. Attachments:

You know, I'm not sure what I was thinking (if anything ), but when I do a crank install I always put the seal in after it's all together and there's no need to remove the pressed on rig for the starter clutch or anything else you haven't removed already. You'll be fine.
